the UPCTEstudents of Baccalaureate of fifteen institutes do agronomic practices in the Biotechnological Routes of the UPCT (18/02/2019)

The School of Agronomists of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) receives in its laboratories from today 240 students of 2 ° of Baccalaureate in a new edition of the Biotechnological Routes.

The young people will make up to the 21st practices in the laboratories of the School of Agronomists of the UPCT.

In particular they will make fermentations and brew beer, microorganisms and foods, transgenic plants, 3D modeling or anatomy of livestock species, are some of the practices that students will perform during the four days of this activity.

The Bachillerato students come from the IES Licenciado Francisco Cascales, IES Sierra de Carrascoy, IES Aljada, IES Rector Don Francisco Sabater Garcia, IES Francisco de Goya, IES El Carmen, IES Ramón y Cajal, IES The Basilica, IES Jiménez de la Espada, IES María Cegarra Salcedo, IES Mediterranean, IES Sanje, IES Alquibla, IES Antonio Hellín Costa and IES Felipe II.

These practices are aimed at students of the 2nd year of Bachillerato so that they can visit the facilities of the Center and complement their educational curriculum in the laboratories of the School, in the hands of university professors with a high research qualification within the treated fields.

Also with these practices will be announced the degree of Agronomist and their professional outputs.

Three basic modules have been completed, Biology, Earth Sciences and Industrial Technologies, with three different practices in each of them.

The reception of the initiative has been very high, having been requested by more than 40 secondary schools in the region.

The Biotechnological Routes are carried out with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology - Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and are promoted by the Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineering and supported by the General Directorate of Planning and Educational Planning of the Ministry of Education. Education, Training and Employment with the collaboration of the Seneca Foundation of the Region of Murcia.
