The Cartagena criminologist Victor Javier Navarro will talk about the cybersuric in the Congress of Deputies (12/02/2019)

Cartagena criminologist Victor Javier Navarro, will participate as a speaker on February 22 in a conference on Prevention and intervention against suicide in the Congress of Deputies.

In this day organized by the deputy Íigo Al, will be present more than 28 speakers, experts from different sectors such as political representatives, social organizations, security forces, psychologists or journalists from different media who will talk about the treatment of suicide and testimonies of surviving relatives.

Navarro will address the issue of youth cyber-suicide, being a social reality that many young people face today.

On the day of the Congress of Deputies promoted by UPN deputy Íigo Al, will be present the highest representatives of social organizations that fight against the serious social problem of suicide as the Telephone of Hope, Spain Mental Health, Foundation of Suicidiology, between others

The testimony of surviving relatives, professionals of psychology, representatives of the Security Forces and Corps will be present, listening to the voice of the media before the treatment of this scourge that is suicide.

All spokespersons for the Parliamentary Groups of the Health and Social Services Commission have also been invited.

During the conference, the criminologist and tutor of the UNED Victor Javier Navarro Iguez will address the issue of youth cyber-suicide, a current reality that many young people face as a result of poor management of social networks and new technologies.

According to the INE, each year between 3,600 and 3,700 people commit suicide in Spain: this means 10 deaths per day.

A total of 1512 young people under 29 lost their lives in Spain between 2012 and 2016 due to suicide, being one of the main causes of death among young Spaniards and the second worldwide.

Other data on suicide in: Of the 10 deaths each day, on average 7 are men and 3 women, suicide deaths are twice those that cause traffic accidents, is the first cause of external death, ie causes not natural, in the general population and in the infant-juvenile population (between 15 and 29) years is the second cause of general death.

In the case of young people and adolescents, one of the causes of this high number of suicides is the misuse of new technologies and social networks, which end in cases of Cyber ​​Bullying and School Harassment, as a consequence of a driven impulsivity out for lack of control of emotions and a high load of emotional stress, which leads to a situation of depression and lack of control of people.
