Irene Pardo Sánchez, winner of the Extraordinary Youth Award, convened by the Youth Council (05/02/2019)

The young Irene Pardo Sánchez wins the Extraordinary Young Award, convened by the Youth Council of the City of Cartagena.

To this award, which has been able to choose any young person between 14 and 30 years old, born or resident in Cartagena - and whose objective is to recognize the figure of those young people of the municipality who have stood out throughout the year 2018 in different fields, demonstrating talent and initiative that distinguishes them - 11 nominations of different modalities have been presented, such as: music, sports, science, writing and social volunteering.

The Jury, has met today Tuesday chaired by the Councilor for Youth of the City of Cartagena, David Martinez, and acting as members of the municipal technicians of the departments of Sports, Social Services, Education and Youth, as well as a representative of the Polytechnic University from Cartagena.

After selecting three finalists: Álvaro Pintado Hernández, Marina Conesa Carbonell and Irene Pardo Sánchez, the Prize was finally awarded to Irene for her research work in the treatment of melanoma.

lrene Pardo, Cartagena 1995, Graduated in Biotechnology and with a master's degree in Molecular Biology, begins, at twenty-two years old, her first PhD course emerging in the research sector of the Region for her project 'Towards precision medicine: EI melanoma.

Identification of new prognostic markers and development of new drugs, financed their work in the laboratory by the AECC.

This prize has a cash prize of 1,000 euros.
