Rescued by air two senderistas who had been lost in the Sierra de la Muela (31/01/2019)

Firemen of the Services of Fire Extinguishing, Salvage and Civil Protection of the City of Cartagena, participated this Wednesday, January 30 in the rescue and evacuation by air to two hikers who had been lost in the Sierra de la Muela, a performance in which they also intervened a helicopter of the General Directorate of Citizen Security and Emergencies with firefighters rescuers of the Air Rescue Group of the Consortium for the Extinction of Fire and Rescue of the Region of Murcia.

Early in the morning, around 9.00 am, the 1-1-2 received the call of the walkers, in which they claimed to be lost and exhausted since they had left the previous day, Tuesday, at noon from The Portús towards Cape Tiñoso and they had had to spend the night in the open.

Once they found out their exact position, firefighters from Cartagena were mobilized, who asked for the evacuation by air of the walkers due to the difficulty of access on foot to the place where they were, and that one of them needed health care.

Those affected, a man of 59 years and a woman of 58, Germans, were evacuated by air to the Security Park of Cartagena, where an ambulance awaited them and they were transferred to the Santa Lucia hospital, although apparently they did not present serious injuries.
