The UPCT distinguishes the ten professors who have directed more doctoral theses in the Polytechnic (28/01/2019)

The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), which this year marks 20 years, has distinguished during the academic act of St. Thomas Aquinas, held today, the ten teachers who have directed more theses during these two decades.

With this, the International Doctoral School wants to acknowledge the work of teachers who have excelled in their activity directing doctoral theses successfully.

The researcher in the area of ​​Edaphology and agricultural chemistry Ángel Faz, who has directed 24 theses, stands out in this activity.

The last, read last October, evaluated phytotechnologies for the extraction of heavy metals in the course of the Guadalentín River and the first, defended in 2005, the use of pig slurry in the production of broccoli and watermelon.

Also noteworthy is the work of Professor Emeritus Francisco Artés Calero, from the area of ​​Food Technology with 17 theses.

Preserving the microbiological and sensory quality of the fresh processed vegetables was the objective of the first thesis that he directed in the UPCT, back in 2003, while in the last, also last October, innovative formulations based on vegetables were developed, such as as purees, juices, sauces and hummus, prepared as 'fifth range' products.

The third of the professors of this relationship, Domingo García Pérez de Lema, from the area of ​​Financial Economics and Accounting, has directed fourteen theses.

The most recent, from 2017, a study on access to finance for microenterprises in Peru;

the oldest, from 2002, an analysis of risk capital decision making in Spain.

They have also been distinguished, for having directed ten or more theses in the UPCT, Antonio Viedma Robles, from the area of ​​Fluid Mechanics;

Juan Gabriel Cegarra Navarro, of Economy of the company;

Alejandro Melcón Álvarez, of Theory of the signal and communications;

Francisco Javier Alhama López, of Applied Physics;

Francisco Artés Hernández, of Food Technology;

María Dolores Bermúdez Olivares, from Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering, and Pablo Bielza Lino, from Plant Production.
