Citizens alert of more illegal lots and landfills infested with rats in the Historic Center of Cartagena (24/01/2019)

- "It is a shame, the situation is dantesca and improper of a city as important as Cartagena, in addition, is that this infamy is a few meters from the School Board of the Sacred Heart, the residence and day center Orpea and the Basilica of the Caridad ", said the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena.

- Cs recalls that his plans to collide with the plots and the illegal dumps remain unimplemented despite the support of the ordinary Plenary

Citizens has denounced today that far from being reduced, abandoned lots, dumps and illegal dumps have increased in recent months.

The orange formation ensures that the abandonment is widespread and nothing has escaped its effects, not even the Historic Quarter of Cartagena.

In this sense, Cs has denounced today that the lots between Calle Saura and Cristóbal La Larga have become authentic waste dumps and landfills that also, according to neighbors in the area, are infested with rats;

the spokesman of Cs, Manuel Padín, has inspected the area today, "it is a shame, the situation is dantesca and improper of a city as important as Cartagena, it is also that this infamy is a few meters from the Patronage School of the Sacred Heart, of the Residence and Orpea Day Center and the Basilica of Charity where the patron saint of Cartagena is located, to finish the job, the streets around are gutted and impassable since the renovation work was halted months ago due to bad accounting forecast of the local government ".

On the other hand, and following the information published today by the newspaper La Verdad on account of the urban abandonment in the neighborhood of San Antón and the useless opposition of CTSSP-Podemos, the Citizens Group wanted to point out that it has been the only party that has worked in this sense to resolve, correct the situation of all neighborhoods and councils of Cartagena, "we have achieved the commitment of the Government to promote the creation of an ordinance to regulate the role of the City in the evaluation of buildings over 50 years, we have taken forward in the ordinary plenary session two complete plans of shock to combat the abandonment of abandoned lots and illegal dumps / dumps, and we have managed to get the local Executive for this year, as confirmed by the mayor Manuel Mora, an extension of personnel in the area of Urbanism in charge of inspecting the dilapidated properties, since until now it is only formed by an architect and a

legal ecialist ".

The neighborhood of San Antón is just one of the territories that are in these poor conditions and are spread throughout the municipality, "only in Cartagena there are about 25,000 homes that should necessarily pass the IEE in 2018," recalls Manuel Padín who reports that "there are hundreds of buildings scattered throughout our geography at risk of collapse, some of these buildings are occupied by illegal squatters and surrounded by neighbors who do not deserve to live in these conditions of insecurity."

For the orange formation, the main causes of this disaster and abandonment are the reckless lack of regulation and municipal regulations (urban plans and ordinances of cleaning and building obsolete or nonexistent), the absence of a socioeconomic analysis (Cs has requested the creation of the Observatory Socioeconomic) that orients and prioritizes budgetary policies "so that no one is left behind", and a disorderly municipal staff with no employees in the area of Urban Planning and Infrastructure, "for each of these problems we have presented proposals that have gone forward in the Municipal plenary sessions but they have not been executed due to the incapacity of MC and PSOE, "says Manuel Padín.

The shortage of municipal personnel also does not help to revitalize the construction sector that acts in reforms and rehabilitations and to be able to take advantage of the state and regional aid of housing, "in a moment in which it is happening badly for the lack of the PGOU and for the difficulty that the urban transitional rules come into force, "adds Padin.

"Citizens has managed to gather at a regional and municipal level a pool of highly trained independent professionals and we are looking forward to apply directly from May our policies to overcome a stagnation that can only be explained by the conformism and intellectual laziness of the PP (which in 2010 he promised a plan of urban and social regeneration for San Antón), the weakness of the PSOE and the useless populism of MC ", says Manuel Padín, who finally," is necessary more public awareness, garbage does not accumulate alone ".
