Justice estimates that the Navy Subsistence Factory is the most suitable location to house the City of Justice in Cartagena (22/01/2019)

The Ministry of Justice also values the Navy's Subsistence Factory as a place to host the City of Justice of Cartagena.

This has been transferred by the Undersecretary of State for Justice, Cristina Latorre, to the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, in a meeting held this Tuesday afternoon, which was also attended by the General Secretary of Relations with the Administration of Justice, Esmeralda Ramillo.

During the meeting the different options that had been studied by the Works and Heritage services of the Ministry of Justice were analyzed and these services agree that the most appropriate location is that of the Navy Subsistence Factory.

"My commitment was to transfer to the people in charge of the Ministry of Justice the option that was best valued in the Board that we convened on January 10, where most groups and political parties saw the Navy Subsistence Factory as the ideal place to host the City of Justice, and that's what I've done ", explained the mayor.

The mayor also wanted to emphasize that "the important thing is to have political will and this government team has not stopped struggling to get ahead in the City of Justice, and have a definitive place to host it is essential.

It is more than proven that the Government of Spain is on our side and that is what we are seeing. "

It is important to remember that three possible sites were valued, the surroundings of the Eroski Shopping Center, the Naval Hospital and the Navy Subsistence Factory.

Once the Eroski option was dismissed, technicians from the Ministry of Justice visited last December, the Naval Hospital and the Subsistence Factory to assess what could be the most appropriate place for the City of Justice.

"After having met on numerous occasions with Ministry staff to transfer the urgent need to have a City of Justice in Cartagena, it seems that finally may be a reality sooner rather than later," added the councilor.

Ana Belén Castejón has also stated that "soon we will meet with the Ministry of Defense to manage the cession of the Subsistence Factory and we will fight to make it as fast and as fast as possible".
