More than 60 activities are part of the programming of the January-March quarter of the Cartagena Piensa program (14/01/2019)

Start the quarterly program Cartagena Thinking organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena and in which also collaborate the councils of Equality and Social Services with more than 60 activities planned throughout the municipal territory.

After more than 300 activities and two and a half years of existence, Cartagena Piensa has become one of the most innovative public cultural programs in Spain.

The act was attended by the mayor of Culture, David Martínez Noguera, the representative of the Grupo Promotor Cartagena Piensa Luis González Adalid, as well as José Luis Serrano, from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena;

Juan Manuel Zaragoza, of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Murcia, Juani Martínez, of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Cartagena and Region and Marta Latorre, participant in participatory meetings in the General Plan of Urban Planning of Cartagena, Antonio Sicilia of solidarity days 'Here we only want to be human';

Encarna Cánovas, from the conference 'An education for the 21st century';

José Martínez, director of the IES Isaac Peral;

Sergio Alcina, from the Department of Sociology of the University of Murcia and Bernardo Sánchez, from the Association of Historical Memory of Cartagena.

In Cartagena Piensa also collaborates unions, associations such as the Society of Philosophy, the Association for the Defense of Public Health, the College of Psychologists of the region or the El Soldadito de Plomo coffee shop, among others.

The quarterly program of Cartagena Piensa includes some events of the Solidarity Days 'Here we only want to be human', dedicated to the challenge posed by migrants and refugees at a time when attitudes of politically fed rejection are rising and while they continue to die in the Mediterranean thousands of people each year among those who try to reach our continent fleeing from wars and misery.

NGOs such as Proactiva Open Arms, Natalia Moraes, from the Department of Sociology of the University of Murcia and Fernando Bermúdez, from Amnesty International, among others, will collaborate.

The film 'En Tránsito' will be screened, which was in the official section of feature films in competition of the Berlin Film Festival of 2018. These days will go from 1 to 10 February at noon, when there will be a rally in the esplanade of the Port of Cartagena in tribute to the failings in the Mediterranean and other migratory routes during 2018.

Also will be celebrated during this first quarter of 2019 the events of the V Days' An Education for the XXI Century.

Looks from the Sciences and the Arts'.

In them, it is committed to an inclusive, public education that addresses diversity, respect for nature and democratic coexistence.

In these conferences will participate, among others: Cayetano Gutiérrez, professor of Physics and Chemistry and scientific disseminator, who will talk about climate change, its consequences and what we can do to avoid it.

It will also talk about 'The education of the sexes in the XXI century: some challenges'.

The talk will be given by María Teresa Palacios, APD doctor in Cartagena since 1963 and Master in Sexology at INCISEX.

In addition to these days, Cartagena Piensa will also host 'Encuentros de pensamiento feminista'.

In this cycle of lectures, the figure of women in the Spanish black novel will be treated by the writers Ana Ballabriga and Susana Rodríguez.

It is also worth noting the events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the IES Isaac Peral, the first institute in Cartagena.

To celebrate this ephemeris, alumni of the center, such as Tomás Albaladejo, will give talks on the role of literature in the reconstruction of Europe.

In addition, the records of illustrious students of the Isaac Peral Institute, such as Carmen Conde or María Cegarra, will be exhibited.
