MC Cartagena deals with the neighbors the main needs and demands to continue with the development of La Manga (12/01/2019)

Yesterday, the spokesman of MC Cartagena, José López, together with the councilor and responsible for Culture and Sports and the president of the Cartagena training, Ricardo Segado and Jesús Giménez, held a working meeting with the Neighborhood Association of Culture, Sports and Leisure (ACDO) of La Manga.

This non-profit organization promotes, in addition to sports, cultural and leisure activities, the improvement of the environment and coexistence among residents and visitors of La Manga.

Likewise, the commitment of the ACDO is also manifested in its work aimed at the sustainability of socio-economic and urban development.

During the meeting, held in the municipal library of La Manga, the main shortcomings and needs of this area were addressed, both in the summer months, where thousands of people accumulate, and during the rest of the year.

Lack of sanitary means and deficiencies in public transport

In this regard, it is worth noting the scarcity of human resources in health matters, since sometimes a single doctor must attend two consultations.

Similarly, the neighbors highlighted the lack of technical means, as reflected in the fact that to perform a simple radiography the patient must travel to the hospital in Santa Lucia.

Ricardo Segado recalled that, on the other hand, one of the shortcomings most historically demanded by residents and visitors, is public transport.

"The Cartagena La Manga service has a shortage of schedules and the school transport service is insufficient, causing some students to sit on the floor of the bus, which is aggravated by the fact that high school students are not entitled to this service, not being compulsory education. "

Restitution of IMSEL with the same personnel

In May 2016, Ana Belén Castejón, then Vice Mayor, responsible for the Area of Economic Strategy and president of the Municipal Institute of Coastline Services (IMSEL), announced the dissolution of this body, which she described as "not very efficient and expensive".

Since then, residents have filed numerous complaints about the lack of attention and maintenance in the coastal areas of the municipality due to the reduction of material and human resources.

Thus, the representatives of the ACDO demand the restitution of the IMSEL with the same personnel.

"Castejón eliminated this organism with a thirst for vengeance and a desire to give itself a boost, and an efficient and necessary service was loaded."

In the same way, they claim a better coordination of the La Manga Consortium since "currently it is an instrument that PP and PSOE use to make politics and not to manage", Segado valued.

Lastly, those responsible for MC presented the training projects, in the form of an amendment to the 2018 Budgets, for the promotion of Proximity Trade and the preparation of a campaign and a Master Plan with the 'Costa de Cartagena' brand, At the same time, they took care of other demands such as the lack of Christmas illumination "that was conspicuous by its absence and forced the neighbors to decorate their facades to give a little atmosphere during last Christmas", concluded Ricardo Segado.
