"We want all those companies that aspire to obtain a municipal contract to certify beforehand that there is no wage gap between their workers," said the orange spokesman who adds that "the municipalities have many tools to promote labor equality and promote justice and one of them is to force companies that relate to the public sector to lead by example ".

"I wish it were not necessary to establish these measures," says Padín, "but we still do not live in a world where all national companies respect the Spanish Constitution, the fundamental norm of the State, which establishes equal rights for all citizens, regardless of sex. be ".

"From Ciudadanos we think that this gap can only be corrected with strong actions by all agents, including companies and public administrations," Padin said, explaining that "we hope that this measure will be extended to the rest of the municipalities of the Region. of Murcia and between all of us contribute to put an end to this unjustifiable and humiliating salary difference ".

The orange training emphasizes the importance of quantifying the gap in an objective manner, so that for the bidder the application of the weighting criteria is made transparent due to these social considerations, for which purpose it will propose to use the formula established by Eurostat for the calculation of the salary gap at European level.

Cs spokesman warns that "once established this obligation will be necessary to warn companies that it will be very expensive to lie because it is very easy to check and the City has the ability to punish those who intend to skip the specifications."

Citizens recalled that according to the latest data from FEDEA, women earn 12.7% less per hour than men doing the same job as them.
