Cs manages to promote several events to recover and value the work of the great Cartagena artist Nicomedes Gómez (10/01/2019)

Cartagena, Thursday, January 10.

The Government of Cartagena has made public the details on how to execute the plenary agreement that drove the Municipal Group of Citizens in February 2018 to highlight the work of the great Cartagena painter and illustrator Nicomedes Gómez.

Next Thursday, January 17, at 7:30 p.m., an exhibition with the collection of his unique esoteric and mystical work will be inaugurated at the Palacio de Molina, as requested by the orange proposal.

"The last time the works of this series were seen was in a 2001 exhibition organized by other entities, by the City Council, where the 12 municipally owned works were exhibited, three of them acquired by the Consistory in 1980, and the others nine ceded in 1984 by Nicomedes Gómez after his death ", Manuel Padín has reported that he recalled that" this exhibition was promoted tirelessly and extraordinarily by the exconcejal and former socialist, Rosa Juaneda, who has recently been dedicated to a street in the Campus of the Muralla del Mar of the Polytechnic University next to the southern facade of the Antigones Barracks ".

In addition, the socialist policy also fought to recover and honor the bronze bust of Nicomedes Gómez, property of the City Council since its cession by the family since January 1988, made by another immortal Cartagena as is the self-taught sculptor and portraitist, Manuel Ardil Robles (1910-1976), "we were able to know that during the inauguration this bust will be discovered, and its value and permanent location will be informed, we are very pleased to have promoted this impulse to recognize and renew our astonishment at the greatness of these two illustrious Cartagena, "says Manuel Padín.

The exhibition can be visited from Thursday, January 17 until Sunday, March 31.

The visiting hours will be: from Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm in the morning.

In the afternoon, it will open at 5:00 pm and close at 8:00 pm.

On Saturdays and Sundays, the exhibition will be open to the public from 11 am to 2 pm.

On Mondays the exhibition will be closed.

On the other hand, Ciudadanos informs that the next day, the official chronicler of Cartagena, Luis Miguel Pérez Adán, will present the book 'Nicomedes Gómez, the man and the artist' by Diego Ortiz Martínez.

The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, in the Ceremonial Hall of the Consistorial Palace.

For Manuel Padín, "it is unforgivable that public representatives have ignored these works of art by Nicomedes Gómez for 18 years, so we are very happy to have contributed to these acts that celebrate the life and work of this artist; sad anomaly that Nicomedes studied in France but suffered the indifference of his countrymen.

Finally, the spokesman of Citizens regrets that the nomination to one of the exhibition halls in the Consistorial Palace with the name of Nicomedes Gómez, "has passed without pain or glory, no act was performed to publicize this change of name who also proposed Cs to honor his memory, but we hope that soon it can be done on the occasion of a new exhibition of another part of his work ".
