The Young Space gives flowers for the International Volunteer Day (05/12/2018)

The Youth Space of the City of Cartagena celebrates this Wednesday, December 5, the International Day of Volunteering, so young participants in different aid programs in the municipality will give handmade flowers to all the people who pass through this space today.

The European Volunteer Service of the Erasmus + Program and the IMPLICA2 Program would like to thank all the young people who commit themselves to collaborate in solidarity, socio-cultural, artistic and sports activities in the city.

The mayor of Youth, David Martinez, has accompanied the young European volunteers in the celebration of this day.

The German volunteer Milena Wagner, believes that "voluntary action is not working without making money, it is working to have a life more committed to what surrounds you, is to meet a lot of interesting people, is to show solidarity."

For Kristjan Karu, a volunteer in Cartagena who came from Estonia, volunteering allows them to "leave your comfort zone, have a more open mentality, get opportunities to find work, be more independent and grow as a person".

It was in 1985 when the General Assembly of the United Nations decreed December 5 as the International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development.
