Cartagena, Sunday November 25-.

The Municipal Group of Citizens in Cartagena recalled today that has proposed in the Equality Council for the Municipal Plan against Gender Violence, the incorporation of a set of measures to improve early detection of sexist violence in the municipality.

This Plan has been working since September 2017 "we know little about the procedures, but we do know that there is only one month left until the end of the year, that it was announced that it would take effect in 2018 and that we have no news of its progress", has informed today the councilman of Cs Cartagena, Ana Rama, who has explained that Cs has contributed "a package of actions that aims, among others, to better outline the response of the City of Cartagena in those most vulnerable profiles: older women 60 years, those who suffer a cultural barrier or those who live in a situation of extreme exclusion ".

The mayor has participated today in the demonstration organized by the Department of Equality of the City of Cartagena on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women from the Plaza of Spain to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

The councilor of the orange training has proposed that the future plan to combat sexist violence include a specific program for Senior Centers, the strengthening of the role of Social Services and the creation of the figure of intercultural mediators in these departments.

For the mayor of Cs, "it is important that our social workers increase even more the training for the early detection of cases of sexist violence, this is already contemplated in a general way the draft of the presented plan, but we want to deepen and that the more vulnerable profiles, so it is convenient to promote a training program for the early detection of Gender Violence in the Tele-assistance service and in the Home Help service in the City of Cartagena ".

In addition, Rama believes it is essential "to further develop the participation of women at the municipal level, empowering women's networks to avoid isolation and also increase the training of local police officers to be more prepared to face a service in cases of sexist violence waiting for a specialized group to be created, we must remember that almost 80 percent of women who suffer some kind of aggression of this type do not report it. "

In addition, Ciudadanos wants to continue developing the Protocol of Collaboration and Coordination between the State Security Forces and Corps and the Local Police for the Protection of Victims of Gender Violence, led by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEM) and that was driven by Cs in Cartagena.

"We want to monitor if Cartagena is fully installed in this protocol, as we requested in the Plenary," says Rama.

On the other hand, Citizens has highlighted an application of help in cases of sexist violence, "we believe that this application, which allows you to send help messages, send the location, make the call to 016 and activate the microphone to record the conversation so automatic and with the screen in black, could begin to be promoted and implanted in a pioneering way and through the City Council in our municipality to test its operation and results ".

This idea was the winner of the 1st Technology Ideas Competition for Gender Equality held by the School of Telecommunications Engineering of the UPCT.

The Councilor for Citizens is convinced that "the City Councils are a key actor in the war against violent machismo since they are the administrations closest to the citizen".

And Ana Rama warns, "this plan or any work table that is convened will be useless if there is not the necessary budgetary appropriation behind to specify and execute the actions to be carried out."

The orange training has explained that the Pact against Gender Violence contemplates a modification in the Local Regime Law to give local entities the necessary competences in matters of gender violence and in the promotion of equality policies, "a pact that urges develop as soon as possible ".
