The City Council is focused on the progress of the General Plan after the fiasco of the Transitory Rules (20/11/2018)

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, announced, after the meeting held with officials of the CARM to discuss the status of the Transitory Urban Planning of the municipality, that "the City has already begun the procedures to tender a contract that promotes the creation of a tool of citizen participation that allows the advancement of the new General Plan of Urban Planning ".

Castejón has also announced that before the end of the year everything related to this participation tool will be presented, which will serve as a support for the advancement of the General Plan.

During the meeting, which took place this Tuesday, November 20, in the Hall of Councilors of the Consistorial Palace, the mayor has recorded that the allegations made by the CARM on the inactivity of the City of Cartagena to obtain a new General Plan of Urban Planning "are false" and has accused them of being "the only competent and, therefore, responsible for this situation".

In addition, he added that after the publication of the Legal Report on the Transitory Rules, it becomes clear that an environmental assessment is needed -which would take around a year-, that most of the projects that contain the Transitory Rules could not be carried out by the limits of the scope of these and that the Transitory Rules are the exclusive competence of the Regional Government. "Therefore, from the City Council we are already evaluating the situation to be able to respond without relying on the Regional Government", affirmed Castejón.

The City Council will also present a new website in which all the neighbors will be informed of the actions that are being carried out to process a new General Plan, while they will be able to participate in the process.

The mayor Ana Belén Castejón, has said that it will work with specific modifications "to give way to as many urban projects as possible, articulating for it all the tools available to the local administration."

Finally, Castejón has urged the Regional Government "to continue working to achieve the Transitory Rules, but to cite the municipality when they have been approved by the Governing Council of the Autonomous Community, which would have completed their work."
