The objective of the organization of the congress is to highlight the protagonism of people with ASD, the visualization and experience of their diversity, the empowerment of their capabilities and strengths, as well as the role of society in their inclusion as full citizens .

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón pointed out that this type of congress allows us to give visibility to the world of ASD, in which on many occasions we are not aware, in family circles, that we are dealing with a case of ASD.

Castejón said that the main goal should be "to achieve a fully inclusive society," as well as knowing the causes of this disorder, see how it can be treated and join efforts from public administrations, each from its powers, the mayor added.

He also expressed that although the City Council, as a local administration, does not have too many tools, will continue to work with associations of the municipality, so that they have spaces to develop their activity and the therapies that people with ASD and their families need .

For his part Marcos Zamora has warned that the reality is that, to this day, there are still therapies that are announced as miraculous, but that are a danger to families because they are far from all scientific evidence.

In addition, he explained that despite the fact that the TEA has no cure, there are tools that can change life in a very significant way if you start working as soon as possible through early detection.

On the other hand, has indicated that the prevalence of this disorder has increased exponentially in recent years, since the spectrum has been opened to include children with milder social and communication difficulties.

He also pointed out that there may also be elements, which are currently being studied, that may explain that the increase in cases is occurring, which is why Zamora has called the ASD a public health challenge, due to the expense that accurate;

specialized attention;

and the creation of policies, means and resources.
