Citizens asks for a response from the City Council to the situation of road insecurity that exists in the San Vicente de Paúl school (11/11/2018)

- "We are talking about a school population of 1,700 students, of minors who do not have to suffer a daily risk to their physical integrity in this municipality," warns the spokesman of Cs Cartagena, Manuel Padín, who understands that the private nature or not of this center, "it does not have to be an excuse for a socialist government to ignore this reality and wipe its hands with this matter"

Cartagena, Sunday, November 11.

"Carrying and picking up children at the San Vicente de Paúl school is not only a nightmare for parents, it is a daily episode of road insecurity that this City Council has to resolve as soon as possible", with this forcefulness has reacted the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, after meeting with the directive of the AMPA of this educational center.

"We are talking about a school population of 1,700 students, of minors who do not have to suffer a daily risk to their physical integrity in this municipality," says Manuel Padín who understands that the private nature or not of this center, "no it has to be an excuse for a socialist government to ignore this reality and wipe its hands with this matter ".

After listening to the demands and suggestions of the president of the AMPA, Juan Antonio Martínez, and the vice president, Ana María Térez, the spokesman of Citizens has announced that his group "is already working to integrate the Vincent de Paul in the urban landscape of the city" .

Cs will present at the next Plenary a proposal for the City Council to promote the installation of traffic lights in the vicinity of the school and the placement of speed bumps in the vicinity of the roundabout;

improve and increase the vertical signaling for speed limitation by proximity to school zone.

In addition, Cs will also propose the qualification of places for the disabled, and parking, parking, hangers, or safe for bicycles.

On the other hand, the orange formation will also urge to increase and broaden the schedule of the police presence as long as the circulatory chaos persists during the entry and exit of the school, and to prevent the use of the ford space in the main school door.

On the other hand, Manuel Padín has denounced that there is not a single trash can in the perimeter of the school, "it is something incomprehensible".

Actions that require prior study

There are other measures of great significance that the orange formation is committed to study together with the municipal departments of Infrastructure and Urbanism that have to do with the opening of the only existing street to the Los Patojos road, the possibility of creating a parking deterrent , the temporary use of the bicycle lane in the direction of Tentegorra, and a study to evaluate the proposal of the AMPA to create a pedestrian access through the construction of a footbridge between New Cartagena and the center.

"These last measures are important and require a more detailed analysis of the ownership of the land, municipal competition, profitability and economic viability, and other variables that force us to discuss it with various Councils," said Manuel Padin.
