The PSOE accuses the regional government of using blackmail and forcing the institutions to seriously harm the economic and social development of the City of Cartagena (16/10/2018)

The spokesman of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Joaquín López Pagán, and the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, have denounced that the regional government is using the institutions "in an irresponsible way to block the City Council from having the transitory urban planning norms of the General Plan of Ordination Urbana of the municipality ".

López Pagán stressed that "the Popular Party and its comparsa Ciudadanos are committing an outrage to the rule of law and are not defending the general interests of the region, even forcing such respectable institutions as the Legal Council of the Region, to which the Government itself regional requested a report on this situation, but to date there has been a response, although everything points to this body ratify the lawyers of the Regional Assembly.

For its part, the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, reproached the regional government for having failed to speak with Cartagena.

"They have had us entertained and now they come with another occurrence, that of including the transitory norms of Cartagena in the Acceleration Law, and I will not allow the mayor to confuse the citizens and the businessmen."

Castejón said that currently there are numerous industrial projects blocked in the Valley of Escombreras and 13 residential paralyzed, waiting for the transitory rules are endorsed by the Governing Council.

The transitory norms have a temporary character while the new General Plan of Urban Planning is elaborated by the City of Cartagena.
