The Community demands the transfer of the facilities of Reina Victoria for the City of Justice of Cartagena (16/10/2018)

The cession of the facilities that the Ministry of Defense has in the Reina Victoria Eugenia avenue, in Cartagena, for the construction of the new City of Justice, and the one of the dependencies of civil use of the airport of San Javier for the aircraft museum of the Infante de Orleans Foundation, were the main issues raised by the presidential adviser, Pedro Rivera, in the interview he held today in Madrid with the general director of infrastructures of the Ministry of Defense, José Francisco Pérez-Ojeda.

Regarding the first issue, Rivera stressed that "this meeting has served to reaffirm the claim we made to the Ministry of Justice a month ago about the need for Cartagena to dispose of a City of Justice as soon as possible."

"For this to be the case, it is necessary to have some land close to the current judicial headquarters of Ángel Bruna, such as those of Reina Victoria, which belong to Defensa and which are considered both by the Superior Court of Justice of the Region and by the Professional colleges as optimal location by surface, situation and urbanistic conditions ", explained the counselor.

Pedro Rivera stressed that "the construction of this infrastructure is essential for Cartagena and its region, because it would put an end to the scattering of existing courts, as well as expand the number of judicial units in Cartagena, a demand that the regional government endorses and that already transferred to the Ministry of Justice, to which we requested that the general budgets of the State contemplate a specific heading ".

Regarding the cession of spaces for civil use of the airport, "this is an essential requirement for the Infante de Orleans Foundation, which is currently based at the Cuatro Vientos aerodrome, in Madrid, to be able to exhibit permanently in the Region its valuable collection of historical airplanes, which is the living history of Spanish aeronautics and one of the best collections of vintage airplanes in Europe, and which would constitute an extraordinary tourist incentive and an economic revulsive for the entire Mar Menor area " , he indicated.
