The Governing Board approves a project to hire 28 long-term unemployed for the adaptation of public spaces in the municipality (11/10/2018)

The Government Board, chaired by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has approved this morning the project to hire 28 long-term unemployed for the adaptation and refurbishment of public spaces in the municipality.

This project will be financed with a grant of 300,000 euros from the Local Public Employment program of the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF).

In particular, 19 part-time cleaning workers will be hired;

3 part-time drivers;

5 garden pawns and a driver pawn.

"We are fully aware of the difficulties that the long-term unemployed have in accessing a job and with this action we intend to improve their professional perspectives", explained the Councilor for the Public Services Area, Juan Pedro Torralba.

IMPROVING ACCESS TO VICTORIA CAVE

On the other hand, the Governing Board has also approved the project of actions to improve security in the accesses to Cueva Victoria, which will be presented to the grants convened by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture for research and intervention of the Archaeological Heritage and Paleontological.

The project, which is around 100,000 euros, includes the conditioning of the lateral slopes of the two existing accesses in Cueva, which will mean the definitive consolidation of the profiles that surround the entrances to the Cave, together with other complementary actions.

The project carried out by a mining engineer expert in the subject, involves the placement of a double twisting mesh that firmly supported on the surface will contain the lands of the perimeter cut, avoiding future landslides and consolidating a very important part of the deposit.

On the other hand, in the same project incorporates the realization of a security key on the roof of Cueva Victoria II, which will ensure the stability of it, as well as the protection of some holes inside a mining gallery

The term of execution of the project is approximately one and a half months.

This is intended to advance in the touristic implementation of the cave, for what is currently being done the Master Plan that will be finalized at the end of the year and will be the one to mark the lines of work to follow.

During the last two years, actions related to Cueva Victoria have been carried out, among which the Cultural diffusion Project and the integration of this rich paleontological heritage in the towns of the Diputación del Beal through the representative murals of the Pleistocene fauna they decorate the most outstanding places of Llano del Beal, El Beal and El Estrecho de San Ginés.

DAMIÁN PÉREZ OLMOS, DIRECTOR GENERAL OF INFRASTRUCTURES

On the other hand, the Governing Board has also given its approval to the appointment of Damián Pérez Olmos, as the new Director General of Infrastructures.

The new head of this managerial position who was vacant, is a career officer of the City of Cartagena since 1968, when he joined the staff as a senior technician in Education.

He has a degree in Psychology from the University of Murcia and a PhD in Educational Psychology.

He is also associate professor of the Department of Evolutionary Psychology and Education of the University of Murcia and member of the EIPSED Research Team of this University

Author of several publications and communications to congresses, he has also been a collaborating professor of various institutes and teaching organizations in the field of private psychology.

Since joining the City Council in 1986, he has held various positions of responsibility, such as Head of Psychopedagogical Care, Head of Service, Education Coordinator and Social Services Coordinator.

COMMUNICATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Finally, and among other matters, the Board has approved the bases and the call for scholarships for training in institutional communication, for graduates or graduates in journalism and audiovisual communication who will collaborate with the Communication Cabinet Protocol of the City of Cartagena.

As in previous years, three scholarships for institutional journalism and one for audiovisual communication are convened.

The call together with the bases will be published shortly on the bulletin board of the municipal website, with the deadline for the admission of applications to be opened on Monday, October 15 and remain open for ten calendar days, until Friday 26
