Companies in the tourism sector offer internships to students of the UPCT Tourism degree (10/10/2018)

The companies of the tourism sector of the region of Cartagena await the graduates in Tourism of the UPCT, before whose first class of students of the renewed university degree, have committed today offers of internships, with possible stock exchange of aid to the study, in their companies.

The presidents of the Chamber of Commerce and the Regional Federation of Businessmen of Hotels and Tourist Accommodation, among other representatives of the tourism sector, met this morning with the new students of the degree in Tourism by the UPCT, which since this year is taught directly by the Polytechnic of Cartagena, with public prices and with a bilingual itinerary, unique conditions in the Region.

Public and private institutions of Cartagena finance this course eight scholarships to cover the rates of students of the degree in Tourism, with the aim of reinforcing a new title that is considered "strategic" for the city.

City Council, Port Authority, Funcarele Foundation, COEC and the Hotel Association finance these eight study aids.

The new students of the degree in Tourism, approved this summer, have only been able to register in the September phase, but you can still request enrollment after the deadline.

"It is crucial that in Cartagena there are people trained to increase tourism quality," said Miguel Ángel Tobarra, dean of the School of Business Sciences, where the new degree will be taught.

"It will be a quality education, with bilingual teaching in Spanish and English and students will also be trained in a third language, French or German," he specified.

"These are highly demanded studies abroad, which we want to attract many international students," said Miguel Martinez, president of the Chamber of Commerce.

"Before the fierce global competition, with new destinations that can do a lot of damage to the Region, we need to differentiate ourselves by means of a quality tourist offer, and for that a great formation is required, not only bilingual, but also multilingual", he said.
