Intercultural coexistence in the'Feria de la Ciudadanía' of San Antón and the Mediterranean Urbanization (09/10/2018)

The II Citizenship Fair of San Antón and Urbanization Mediterráneo landed in the Doña Juana la Loca square last Friday, October 5th.

The different entities settled in the booths arranged in the square to show the activities and the work they do to improve intercultural coexistence and social cohesion in the neighborhoods.

The event was scheduled within the framework of the ConVive Project for the promotion of coexistence and intercultural community intervention in these neighborhoods and was organized by the Barrios Coordinator, the Cepaim Foundation and the Department of Social Services of the City of Cartagena.

This second edition of the Citizenship Fair, with the slogan 'Working together, united by the Neighborhood', proposed different activities such as: henna, dissemination of activities, games, citizenship perception surveys, music , workshops and photography exhibitions, among others.

With these activities we wanted to make an appeal so that the neighbors know, participate and collaborate with the entities.

In addition to reporting, entertained the afternoon with interventions of zancudos and clowns, musical performances, and children's entertainment among other recreational activities that encouraged healthy leisure.

The hot chocolate, the sweets and the aromatic Arab tea, offered by the organizers, were not missing at any time.

On the other hand, the Coordinator took advantage of the fair to collect opinions, comments and contributions that will allow the services offered by the entities to be reinforced.

Late in the afternoon, the Ghanaian Association of Cartagena offered a music and dance show.

The intercultural coexistence was evident in the spontaneous fusion of Ghanaian and Arab culture that surprised the attendees of the fair.

COORDINATOR

The Neighborhood Coordinator of San Antón and the Mediterranean Urbanization is a platform that brings together the main associations, collectives, municipal institutions and citizens of these neighborhoods, to work cooperatively, a series of topics of common interest.

The coexistence, the image of these neighborhoods, the welfare of the neighbors, the promotion of certain groups such as: childhood, immigrants, women, or the elderly, as well as the maintenance of parties, popular customs, of the well-being and the quality of life of all the neighbors of both neighborhoods, are the subjects of common interest that are in the origin of the collaborative work that they develop in this territory.

The Barrios Coordinator is energized by the team of the ConVive Project of the CEPAIM Foundation, based in the Social Center of San Antón-El Cuco, which calls for weekly meetings among others, in the Social Center itself.

The Coordinator of San Antón and La Urba is open to the participation of any entity that works in the neighborhoods for purposes of neighborhood cohesion.

Beyond the work carried out by each entity, the Coordinator meets every fortnight in different community spaces of the neighborhoods, and in those meetings, open to the participation of any interested person or entity, the questions that are put on the table are put on the table. constructive way and in community they have to be treated as an element of social and cultural development in the neighborhoods.

That is why the Coordinator, in an effort to enhance their work, joins to give a unified and coordinated response to these situations.
