1,500 solidarity runners have filled the Port of Cartagena with life in the III race 10k CPC (06/10/2018)

In this third edition, the number of participants has doubled compared to last year's

1,500 solidarity sportsmen have been part of the third edition of the 10K Solidarity Race of the Port of Cartagena, surpassing all the expected expectations of assistance by the organization.

This year the race has brought new features in its journey, incorporating the emblematic neighborhood of Santa Lucia.

The test has had beginning and end at the pier of Alfonso XII.

The corridors have crossed the emblematic fishing district, continuing to the Muelle de La Curra to pass along the coast batteries closest to the city until Cala Cortina, from where they have returned to the starting point.

The absolute winner of the men's event was José Carlos Caparrós García (Real Estate Club Paris), completing the race in 32:13 minutes.

In the female category, the winner was Sandra García-Pagán Bonnardeaux (Club CD Runtritón Cartagena) with a time of 38:10 minutes.

The Mobel Automenor Running Club was proclaimed champion in the team category, with a total time of 2:13:04.

The president of the Port Authority, Joaquín Segado, the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the general director of sports, Alonso Gómez, the Murcian athlete Miguel Ángel López Nicolás, as well as representatives of the Runtritón Club, were present at the race. the Pablo Urgarte Association and more than a hundred volunteers from the Runtritón Club and the Port Authority of Cartagena who have collaborated throughout the course of the race.

The president of the Port Authority, Joaquin Segado, has highlighted his "deep satisfaction for achieving such a high participation in this third edition of the Solidarity Race, more than 1,500 participants, who also contribute their bit to the Pablo Ugarte Foundation, has tried to give a special role to the neighborhood of Santa Lucia. In addition, Segado stressed that "more than 25 sponsoring companies and collaborators have devoted themselves to supporting this sports and solidarity, to which he especially appreciates their collaboration."

On the other hand, the President of the Port has highlighted that in this edition the athletes have toured recently remodeled areas in a port-city integration action that has allowed, among other things, the expansion of sidewalks for pedestrians, the creation of a bike lane and a specific path for running practice.

The funds raised will go to APU, an organization that fights against childhood cancer that was born in memory of the little Pablo Ugarte, who died after suffering from bone cancer.

The association, founded by its parents and friends, has the motto 'Leave the oncologists unemployed'.

APU helps children's cancer research teams, as well as children and their families.

At present, it has more than 2,000 associates and is present in all the Autonomous Communities of the country.

The 10K Puerto de Cartagena has consisted of several tests: 10K test (participants over 18 years), Test 4,5K (participants from 13 to 17 years, and participants functional diversity), and Test of minors (from 0 to 12 years and distances between 250 and 1,100).

There was also a 4.5k walk for walkers, not included in the competition.

The race has also had the inscription 'Dorsal solidario', for all the people who have not been able to attend the race but who have wanted to collaborate with the Pablo Ugarte Association.
