'In October, Cartagena is a fair', with this motto the city council of Cartagena presents the different fairs and meetings that will take place during this month through the stands located in the Plaza de los Héroes de Cavite.

The first of them, the 'Fair of Women's Associations', has opened its doors this Friday, October 5, and may be visited until the 7th. Next, the 'Outlet Fair' will be shared between October 10 and 15 ;

the 'Fair of Resources and Services for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities, Femadis', on 19, 20 and 21;

and finally, the 'Meeting of Youth Associations' will occupy this space, which will take place on the weekend of 27 and 28 of the same month.

To explain the news this year have appeared, this Friday, October 5, the councilors of the areas that organize these events: David Martinez, as councilor for Equality and Youth;

Carmen Martín, as Councilor for Commerce;

and Mercedes García, as Councilor for Social Services.

FAIR OF WOMEN ASSOCIATIONS

The Fair of Associations of Women, is driven by the Department of Equality, its mayor, David Martinez has explained that this edition has 47 stand, of which 36 are occupied by Women's Associations of Cartagena.

The objective of this fair is to boost the feminine associative network, offering communication and the exchange of women in a playful weekend, "that will help them to share, to empower themselves and to create spaces in which they can unfold new possibilities of them". explained Martinez.

As a novelty, this year the mayor of Equality has announced that it will raise awareness about the role of witches as precursors of chemistry, "demystifying the role of witches as evil women and putting them in value as precursors of women scientists" designated Martinez.

According to the mayor explained, the witches had great knowledge about medicinal plants "with which they made oils, ointments or broths for different conditions."

OUTLET FAIR

The next event to be installed in the square will be the 'IX Fair Outlet 2018', organized by the Department of Commerce, with the collaboration of the Port Authority and the Association of Merchants.

The 46 shops that participate this year will keep their doors open from 10 to 15 October to offer all kinds of items, from clothing and accessories, to footwear or sports.

The Councilor for Commerce, Carmen Martin, has emphasized that this fair is a great opportunity to find good buying opportunities, "we will find a wide range of products with discounts ranging from 20 to 50 percent."

The opening hours to the public will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The 'Outlet Fair' will be completed this year with the 'Trade Week', from October 29 to November 4.

Throughout that week different activities will be combined:

Stand at the Explanada del Puerto, where a showcase will be installed to show the latest fashion trends, which will be from November 1 to 4.

Beauty areas

Training days with the realization of a series of conferences with topics such as: window dressing, social networks, fashion shows, or fashion.

Fashion shows, among which is 'The great evening of fashion' that this year will be on Saturday, November 3 in the Explanada del Ayuntamiento.

Styling competition, in which fashion bloggers will participate.

FAIR OF RESOURCES AND SERVICES 'FEMADIS 18'

The Department of Social Services, through the Unit for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities, is the area that organizes the Fair of Resources and Services 'Femadis 18', which will take place on 19, 20 and 21 October.

As explained by the mayor Mercedes García in this fair will participate both public and private institutions, as well as associations of elderly and disability, "showing their services and resources, aimed at improving the quality of life of these groups."

In total there will be 49 stands and they will install the more than 20 companies that will participate this year.

All of them provide their services to these groups such as: day centers, home help companies, family respite, hearing centers, technical aids, social health services, neurorehabilitation centers or residences.

There will also be an appointment at this fair for the elderly people belonging to the 40 clubs in our municipality, as well as the Federation that encompasses them all.

The elders will show in their booths the popular traditions representing ancient crafts, such as bolillo or esparto, or making homemade soaps.

In addition, the Senior Clubs will also expose the taste of Cartagena's cuisine.

For their part, people with disabilities will also be represented in these stands, through 17 associations.

García explained that all kinds of activities will take place during the event: carnival performances, yoga, dance, live workshops, demonstrations of traditional crafts, performances of rondallas, intergenerational activities, and measurements of sugar, among others.

The inauguration will take place on Friday, October 19, at 12:00, with a sample of the costumes of the carnival of older people of recent years.

MEETING OF YOUTH ASSOCIATIONS

The month of October will close its fairs with the celebration of the 'XIX Meeting of Youth Associations', which will take place on the weekend of 27 and 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 10:00 a.m. 12:00 hours on Sunday.

The mayor of Youth, David Martinez, explained that during the meeting will show the work done by these young people in their workshops "are going to develop a wide range of activities so as to know their projects."

Martinez also stressed that this meeting "has already become a must for the juvenile association of the municipality."

In addition, has indicated that Cartagena is the city of the Region of Murcia with more youth associations.

Share space with this meeting the 'Youth Handicraft Market' in it will be put on sale objects made by young people themselves, whose ages range from 14 to 35 years, so that what they collect can be used to maintain the own association, "you can find very varied objects such as costume jewelery, prints, dolls, clothes, soaps or paintings, among other products made in an artisanal way", explained Martínez.

To participate in the market you must register before Tuesday, October 16th.
