María Dueñas and Patxi Andión among the 33 cultural proposals of'Leer, Pensar e Imaginar' (26/09/2018)

Outstanding names of Spanish culture such as the writer María Dueñas and the musician Patxi Andión are among the proposals of 'Reading, Thinking and Imagining', which has scheduled a total of 33 for the months of October, November and December.

All activities will have free admission and most of them will take place at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.

The presentation was carried out this Wednesday, September 26, the Councilor for Education, Culture and Youth, David Martinez;

the head of the Municipal Libraries, Mª Carmen Rodal;

and the director of the FICC and responsible for the programming of the Ficcmoteca, Esther Baeza.

The mayor responsible for the area of ​​Culture, David Martinez, explained that presented "a quality program and diversified, aimed at all citizens and involves the confirmation of the new direction we wanted to print to the municipal cultural center of reference in this stage".

'Reading, Thinking and Imagining' combines acts of very diverse type, from theater and music to cinema or poetry, through novels, essays and philosophy.

Martínez has pointed out as some of the most attractive, "flamenco, documentary, contemporary art, ecology, feminism, traditions and heritage, the newspaper, contemporary cinematographic fiction and the history of our time".

Of the 33 proposals presented, the program features musicians, Curro Piñana or Patxi Andión, the award-winning artist Isidoro Valcárcel Medina, successful writers such as María Dueñas and other outstanding figures of contemporary Spanish culture such as the writers: Joaquín Estefanía, Belén Gopegui, Laura Freixas, Pilar Aguilar, David Pujante, Carmen G. de la Cueva, Javier Morales;

as well as philosophers and professors among whom are: Antonio Campillo, Jose Antonio Corraliza, Marcos Alonso Bote;

or poets such as Angel Paniagua, José Alcaráz, Esther Ramón, Andrés García Cerdán;

editors like Eugenio Castro, or essayists and activists like Luis González Reyes, or the Mexican anthropologist Eduardo Guzmán.

Concert by Patxi Andión

To highlight some of these proposals, Martínez wanted to express his satisfaction for counting on November 15, included within the program of the poetic festival 'Deslinde', with the concert of the veteran musician Patxi Andión.

The musician will celebrate his 50 years dedicated to music by presenting his album 'La hora Lobicán' at the Luzzy, a concert in which the public will be able to choose by vote some of the themes that the artist will find among his long production.

This concert will be free until full capacity and will be accompanied by the presentation of the book dedicated to the artist that Antonio Marín Albalate and Luis García Gil wrote and published last year.

The mayor also wanted to mention the concert of 'Villancicos Flamencos' by Curro Piñana and Grupo, which will take place on December 14th.

The show is included in the collaborations with the 'Scenario Plan of the Autonomous Community'.

Presentation of the latest work by María Dueñas

For the first time some proposals that are developed outside the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center have been included, in order to find the most appropriate framework.

This is the case of the presentation of the latest novel by María Dueñas, which will take place at the El Batel Auditorium on October 4 at 8:00 p.m.

Luzzy will also leave Esther Ramón's poetry workshop, which will take place at the Youth Resource Center, or the presentation of the book 'Y también se vivía', which will be held at Palacio Molina.

Other programs such as 'Cartagena Piensa', the 'Plan Escena', from the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, or the poetic festival 'Deslinde' collaborate in the programming of this quarter.

The program is also possible thanks to the collaboration of various municipal departments such as: Culture, Equality, Municipal Libraries and Popular University, together with other entities and associations.

Finally, the mayor of Culture has stressed that "the commitment to gender equality in the program has been respected."

Regarding the collaboration of the Municipal Libraries, its head, Mª Carmen Rodal, explained that the libraries collaborate with the cultural proposals of 'Reading, Thinking and Imagining' because they are centers that are alive, "in addition to being reference centers of the culture and loan of books, we think that we have to be centers from which the culture is spread ".

Ficcmoteca

For its part, the responsible for the programming of the Ficcmoteca, Esther Baeza, has offered all the details of the programming of the Ficcmoteca, which this quarter will screen 3 films.

It will begin on October 5 with 'Lucky', the last film played by Harry Dean Stanton, icon of modern and independent cinema with titles like Paris, Texas and Wild Heart.

On October 19, and on the occasion of the International Day of Domestic Cinema, Salvi Vivancos, responsible for the memory of the Celuiloides project, will talk about the importance of taking care of domestic cinema.

In order to show the creative possibilities of this tool of collective memory, "Many children, a monkey and a castle" will be screened, a documentary by Gustavo Salmerón made with domestic videos recorded over fourteen years and starring his mother, Julieta Salmerón, An unusual lady, and fun.

And the last movie of the quarter, on October 26, is 'Los Perros', directed by the Chilean Marcela Said.

A film that narrates the relationship of a bourgeois woman of a family that protects the crimes during the dictatorship and an army colonel investigated by a court.

All activities are free until full capacity, the vast majority of them will take place at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.
