MC Cartagena will demand from the local government improvements in accessibility to the cemetery of Our Lady of Los Llanos in El Algar (11/09/2018)

The MC Cartagena municipal group will present a motion to demand the Socialist government, and in particular the Department of Services, which undertakes the necessary improvements in terms of accessibility to the cemetery of Our Lady of Los Llanos in El Algar to increase security road in said area.

Thus, before the existing risks, and denounced by the neighbors, in the accesses to the cemetery, the Cartagena training, through its mayor Francisco Calderón, will demand that a stretch of pedestrian lane be designed and executed from the urban center of El Algar to the connection point of the highway, parallel to the old N-332 and the land bordering the Carriage Museum Zamar.

In the same way, and emphasizing the improvement of road safety, both pedestrian and road, will request to be managed with the Ministry of Development of the CARM those necessary measures at exit number two of the RM-12 motorway.

Local demand for more than fifteen years

These needs that MC Cartagena will put on the table at the next Plenary are being claimed by the locals for more than fifteen years, who have denounced the insecurity they suffer when moving to one of its two cemeteries, Nuestra Señora de Los Llanos, located at one kilometer from its urban center.

In this sense, Calderón explained that "the physical space of passage for neighbors and family members who wish to visit their loved ones from the urban center by the shoulder of the old N-332 is null or existing, so the risk of accident it is permanent and elevated. "

This risk, which already existed before the bypass of El Algar with the highway to La Manga, was aggravated by the new route, leaving many road safety deficiencies.

Without funds from the Neighborhood Board for the fraud of 'hands' Torralba

Francisco Calderón recalled that this problem arises both for pedestrians and for vehicles.

Thus, pedestrians encounter a lack of specific signage, a pedestrian lane and even an underground passage with a prefabricated frame.

On the other hand, the vehicles, both of incorporation and exit to the highway of La Manga or to La Union or El Algar, are at serious risk of accident due to poor visibility.

Finally, the Cartagena councilor has pointed out that "from MC we will propose a series of urgent measures to solve these problems that have suffered for more than a decade both the residents of El Algar and the rest of users of this route", while regretting that the deception and subsequent looting of the funds of the Neighborhood Board by the socialist Juan Pedro Torralba "prevents these measures can be borne by it, should seek solutions and not hide behind their fraud of Participatory Budgeting."
