The Community demands that the Government of Spain "not delay another day the cession of the land for the ZAL of Cartagena" (07/09/2018)

The Autonomous Community today called on the Government of Spain to "not delay another day the development of the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) of Cartagena", for which it reiterated that the Public Enterprise of Land (Sepes) "accelerate the provision of the land to promote the implementation of the first phase of the ZAL ".

The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, said that "there has been no news" because the "text of the agreement was already closed for four months" and that was sent to Sepes, who already fixed the price per square meter of the floor for the assignment of the same for the ZAL.

Therefore, he urged Pedro Saura to "sign the agreement and start work in early 2019."

The regional responsible made these statements after the meeting held in Cartagena with the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing of the Ministry of Development and president of Sepes, Pedro Saura, the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the president of the Port of Cartagena , Joaquín Segado and representatives of the business sector.

The counselor considered "essential commitment and involvement of the Government of Spain and Sepes in this project of national and regional strategic interest" and stressed that "the regional government is moving forward on the road map drawn for the ZAL of Cartagena, as evidence of a government that fulfills and bets decidedly for this infrastructure ".

In this regard, he recalled that the Consorcio del Depósito Franco and the Info agreed to the transfer to increase and improve their services, after receiving the economic offers of the Port of Cartagena for the acquisition of their current land.

This will allow the acquisition of land in Los Camachos and start construction of the Transportation Center and the Franco Warehouse, with an initial investment of 2.5 million.

The counselor claimed that the other agreement with the City Council of Cartagena, the Institute of Promotion and Consortium of the Franco Deposit for the transfer of the Franco Warehouse and the Integrated Transport Center is signed.

Currently, these facilities are located next to the port and there is no space for their expansion, so that their transfer would allow the release of an important area of land to improve and expand services.

During the meeting, it was requested to define and execute the railway variant that connects with the ZAL of Cartagena.

The counselor stressed that the Cartagena ZAL is "a common project, a project of society, a project of all" and noted that "we need the Government of Spain and the City of Cartagena to unlock the agreements to start the works of the ZAL of Cartagena ".

The constructive projects to be able to execute the works of implantation of the ZAL are in writing and cofinanced to 50 percent with European funds, of the regional Government and of the Port Authority.

For this, 1.3 million euros of funds are available from the EU's Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

AVE to Cartagena

Councilor Patricio Valverde asked the Secretary of State for the project that connects Cartagena to the High Speed network and he responded that "the Ministry of Public Works needs more time to continue studying the alternatives", according to Valverde.

Valverde reiterated that Cartagena continues in the "lack of definition" for the arrival of the AVE to Cartagena and requested the Secretary of State to convene as a matter of urgency the Board of Directors of Cartagena High Speed to opt for the alternative that "guarantees the arrival of AVE as soon as possible.
