Citizens accuse the Ministry of Education of "abandonment of functions" due to errors in the content of Primary (04/09/2018)

- Manuel Padín asks for a report to the High Educational Inspectorate, that the relations between the public Administration and the publishing houses be examined, and that an emergency protocol be established for the teaching staff to correct the errors if it is impossible to modify or remove the erroneous contents

Cartagena, Tuesday, September 4.

After learning that hundreds of Primary students in the Region are working with books in which Murcia appears located on the coast, in a diffuse area between Isla Plana and Mazarrón, where the official place names are incorrectly used, and a nonexistent diocese is mentioned. Murcia, among other serious errors that misinform the students, the spokesman of the orange training, Manuel Padín, has reported that he has transferred all these erroneous data to his colleagues in the Regional Assembly to correct this "dantesca and surrealist" situation.

Cs Cartagena has asked that the Minister of Education, Adela Martínez Cachá, give the explanations that are required because "if a Primary book does not know how to locate a municipality like Cartagena or a diocese is wrongly mentioned, what other mistakes have been made to historical level ?, the loss of confidence in the accuracy and rigor in the contents studied by our children has broken into a thousand pieces at this time, and requires a response from the public administration sufficiently forceful to achieve restitution ", Manuel Padín maintains that, in this sense, he has asked his Parliamentary Group to request a detailed or urgent report or evaluation of the textbooks that are the object of this controversy to the High Educational Inspectorate.

On the other hand, to prevent this from happening again, the orange spokesman believes that it is necessary to "debate again the system through which educational curricula are made in this community and rethink the relationship between publishers and the Ministry of Education to implement new and better control methods that safeguard the quality and objectivity of our study plans ".

It is not acceptable that the PP has gone publicly blaming all the editorials and, as usual in this game, without assuming an ounce of responsibility in this controversy;

Is there no public control over what our children study?

Do the parents have to supervise the data and identify the problems? Asks the Cs spokesperson who considers that "at this point, at the beginning of the school season, if it is not possible to remove or modify the texts, I think that the important thing is to stop the damage and the damage that these errors can cause to the knowledge of our kids by establishing an urgent protocol of information to the teachers of the Region of Murcia so that the nonsense of the facts written in those books is corrected verbally ".

"If the PP is not capable of controlling the education given to our children, it does not deserve to assume this competence", concludes Manuel Padín.

As for the perverse interpretation that the populist group MC has made about this controversy in which it dares to assure that there is a "planned indoctrination from the political classes of the Region", the spokesman for Citizens has pointed out that "MC takes advantage of every occasion that gives the incompetence of the PP to feed their electoral machinery, never propose solutions, only disfigure the context to adjust to its narrow mental framework, it is not popular evil, an evil plan to end Cartagena, but incompetence in this In this case, and to comply with the dictates of the pressure groups of the capital in others, but in order to fight against this financial and social imbalance, it is not worth taking your feet off the pot, but applying fair and solidary policies, such as those you want to implement a party like Ciudadanos that courageously defends equality among all Spaniards, in Catalonia, in the Basque Country, and wherever. "

Regional Assembly

For his part, the regional deputy, Juan José Molina, has shown his surprise at this situation and has asked "what is it that we are teaching our children".

In this sense Molina has pointed out that the Ministry of Education can not hide behind the responsibility of the publisher since the administration has the obligation to review the contents before the books are put into circulation to verify that the contents are adequate and correct possible errors that may have been committed, which in this case are obvious and very serious ".

"Therefore, there has been, at least, a lack of functions in the work that the Ministry of Education has to do supervising the materials used to teach our children and therefore should offer the relevant explanations," added the deputy of the orange formation.
