Ciudadanos celebrates "with caution" the first steps for the reform of Beatas Street and the Return of Talent program (03/09/2018)

"I hope that this time we are facing the kick-off to see our amendments executed," said the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena on the occasion of the opening of the procedure to award the project for the reform of services in the Contracting Committee. urbanists in Beatas Street, Villaba Corta, San Cristóbal Corta, Ciprés, Don Roque and Plaza de Roldan, and for the award of the Return of Talent program to Cartagena.

Regarding the works on the streets between Serreta Street and Monte Sacro, the orange spokesman pointed out that "from the beginning we were clear that the City Council had to act against the pavement deterioration in the road and sidewalks, and also to renew some services such as pipes with fiber cement and some stretches of sewage in poor condition ".

After the studies carried out in 2017, the City Council concluded that the sanitation network was deficient, even ruling that the diameter of the pipes was insufficient to channel the torrential rain episodes.

The project will also serve to reorder traffic and pedestrian traffic, install new street furniture, make improvements in public lighting with the installation of 6 6-meter staff with LED lights, and to burying the medium voltage network and the telephone network.

The base bidding budget is 350,000 euros, 16 companies have been submitted and the execution period will be three months from the signing of the Work Stakeout Act.

Manuel Padín recalled that this project was proposed by Citizens in the municipal budgets of 2017, and that after not fulfilling MC its obligation of execution, the orange training included it as one of the conditions to support the 2018 budgets in the pact signed with the PSOE.

"We crossed our fingers, but today it seems that it is the day that this project takes its first steps to contribute to the recovery of an area mistreated by decades of municipal abandonment."

Return of Talent

Ciudadanos also cautiously welcomes the opening of the procedure for the execution and development of the Talent Return program to Cartagena, for which two companies have submitted their proposals.

"The Government of Cartagena was not able to remove this project last year either, so we were also forced to condition our vote on this year's accounts for immediate execution," recalls Manuel Padín.

The purpose of the contract is to create a platform to strengthen the bond of young migrants and Cartagena and whose first step will be to identify a community of those between 18 and 34 years old who want to return and then encourage their contact with local businesses or other areas of interest. demand.

"The idea is for the City Council to provide a service of information, guidance, advice and accompaniment that facilitates the return of young talents to Cartagena and in this way generate a new line of work to promote access for young people to our labor market."

According to Padín, "the reason that led us to bring this proposal to Cartagena is that in Cs we believe that the return of talent is positive for the economy because it will generate recruitment opportunities, improve work teams in companies and promote internationalization and the entrepreneurial vocation ".

The orange spokesman has mentioned a similar experience in the Andalusian city of Córdoba, "we have seen the good results obtained in Córdoba where this program has already been implemented and where they managed last year to generate a community of 163 from Cordoba, with an average of 32 years, they wanted to return to this city, a figure that they expect to double in 2018. "

In the orange training ensure to be very "excited" with the implementation of this initiative with which they hope not only promote the return home of emigration Cartagena or strengthen companies with this valuable human capital, but also identify and enrich the innovation business ecosystem in Cartagena.

"In Citizens we are convinced that the future of our city and our region must be built with the hands, ideas and talent of our young professionals," says the spokesman of Cs Cartagena, warning that "this is only the first step; working to close the circle of this project that goes directly through the investment in incentives, that is, aid to companies that make contracts to the young immigrants, helps to minimize the expenses related to the return, and increase the lines of credit to support the 'external entrepreneurs', all those business projects that arise from people linked to the municipality who are outside.
