Carthaginians and Romans will return to the three-year city from September 21 to 30 (31/08/2018)

The Carthaginian and Roman festivities, which last year launched their declaration of International Tutist Interest Party, return to Cartagena from September 21 to 30 in its twenty-ninth edition.

The three-thousand-year-old city will revive for ten days the extraordinary historical events that had it as a backdrop 2000 years ago.

Cartagena will be filled with shields, helmets, labaros and falcatas.

Absdrúbal will found it and will give it the name of Qart-Hasdasht.

While his brother Hannibal will marry the Iberian princess Imilce and swear eternal hatred to the Romans.

In spite of the omens of the goddess Tanit, she will undertake her fateful march to Rome, from which she will no longer return, because the Roman general Scipion will conquer her and re-found her with the name of Carthago Nova.

Thus, on Friday the 21st, after the arrival of the sacred fire and its lighting at 9:00 pm, the proclamation of the festivities will take place from the balcony of the Consistorial Palace, to then march towards the festive camp in the vicinity of the Cartagonova Stadium.

On Saturday 22 from 20:00 hours the Foundation of Qart Hadasht, next to the hoisting of the Carthaginian flag and the allegory to Qart Hadast.

The Plenary Session of the Senate of Rome will be held on Sunday 23 from nine thirty in the evening.

Other highlights of the programming will be the Weddings of Aníbal and Himilce on Monday 24 at 9:00 p.m. in the esplanade of the Port, and the Oracle of the Goddess Tanit on Tuesday 25, in the auditorium of the Torres Park.

The great Feriae Latino will take place on Wednesday the 26th from 10:30 pm in the festive camp, a day that will be dedicated to the little ones.

On Thursday, September 27, the Carthaginian army will disembark and mercenaries will be hired so that Hannibal starts his march to Rome at 9:00 pm.

The great battle for the conquest of Qart Hadasht will be held on Friday the 28th at six in the afternoon, followed by the victory parade in Rome.

The troops and legions will show their outfits in the great general parade on Saturday September 29 from 7:00 pm, leaving from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento by Calle Mayor, Puertas de Murcia, Carrer del Carmen, Plaza de España, Alameda de San Antón to finish in the Festero Camp.

On Sunday 30 the festivities will conclude with the extinguishing of the sacred fire, which will take place at 10 pm followed by the fireworks display.
