Citizens request explanations from the regional government about the abandonment of the port of Cabo de Palos (23/08/2018)

Luis Fernández: "The lack of signage in the entrance channel to the port or the poor condition of the light and water turrets are deficiencies that should be corrected as soon as possible"

Manuel Padín: "The PP still does not clarify what their future plans for this marina"

Citizens have requested explanations from the regional government "for the deplorable situation in which the port of Cabo de Palos is located because the regional government has left it to its fate." Luis Fernández, regional deputy of the orange formation, has verified the numerous deficiencies presented by the facilities and has collected the discomfort of its users due to the carelessness of the regional administration in its management and maintenance.

Fernandez has pointed out that the infrastructures present important deficiencies that should be corrected as soon as possible "such as the poor condition of the light and water turrets, the lack of signaling in the entrance channel to the port, the absence of toilets and bathrooms and the lack of security measures against vandalism that occurs in boats. "

"The users of the port contribute to the Autonomous Community about 300,000 euros per year, of which only 50,000 have an impact on the maintenance of the port that has nothing more than a guardauelles .. It is not a receipt that this lack of reciprocity occurs and, on everything, that the negligence of the regional government causes that the installations deteriorate ", has added the deputy of the orange formation.

On the other hand, the spokesman of the Municipal Group of Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, recalled that the regional government of the PP is still unclear what their future plans for this marina.

The local spokesman of Cs Cartagena met a few months ago with the Neighborhood Association of Cabo de Palos.

Among the main issues discussed, he highlighted the possible privatization of the Port of Cabo de Palos.

"In Citizens we understand that here there is a problem of participation and transparency;

It can not be that the concessionaires of the berths and the neighbors affected by this administrative concession that is intended to be put out to public tender are not aware of the intentions of the Ministry of Public Works, "said the orange training spokesman, who has announced that it is desirable to promote a meeting "between the regional administration and a representation of the various neighborhood and social groups that exist in the area so that they are informed at first hand".

The spokesman of Citizens has assured that not only the neighbors do not know the true plans of the Community, "we do not either, the truth and truth is that today nobody knows the project that from time to time throws as a probe balloon the PP, already that there is only one 2016 draft that is not current, and so it is difficult for us to make an assessment;

We ask for respect for the users, and to prove it, Fomento has to create a joint working table with them as soon as possible ".

"While this project is still in the air, the PP leaves this port;

the lack of maintenance that these port infrastructures have had is embarrassing, the poor state of the marshlands, the lack of control of the moorings, are good proof of this;

the improvements that have been made up to now have turned out to be insufficient ", concluded the municipal spokesman of the orange formation.
