All ready for the Pilgrimage of San Ginés that Saturday will spend the night on the slopes of Mount Miral (22/08/2018)

This year, the pilgrims of San Ginés de la Jara will spend the night in a camp set up on the slopes of Mount Miral, in front of the Monastery, next Saturday, August 25, the day of the Patron.

The traditional pilgrimage will take the Patron of Cartagena through different councils of the region to reach the monastery of San Ginés and the base camp.

The councilman of Celebration, Juan Pedro Torralba, has been in charge of giving an account of the itinerary and part of the details of the event to be held on August 25, and has done so accompanied by the Elder Brother of the Romeros, Andrés García Andreo;

the chaplain, Lázaro Gomariz and the creator of the poster, Rita Agüera.

On this occasion, the big party of the patron saint of the municipality is held on Saturday so the organization of the event, the Brotherhood of Romeros de San Ginés, which have the collaboration of the City of Cartagena, has planned a series of activities that will take out from 9:00 pm at the base camp, which in this edition will be located at Km. 2.8 of the La Manga highway, next to Luna Renovables, to celebrate this important date.

This pilgrimage dating from the tenth century, as recalled by the mayor of Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba, "improves every year and receives the participation of a greater number of pilgrims," ​​who get involved in the festivities and keep this tradition alive.

Thus, next Saturday at 8:00 am there will be a gathering of Romeros, who will meet at the Basilica of Charity.

Then, at 8:30 am, the Eucharist will be celebrated, in which the Salve Cartagenera will be performed, there will be a Floral Offering and the Reverend Francisco Montesinos will bless the pilgrims before his departure.

It will be at 9:00 am when the pilgrims will leave for the Parish of San Ginés, in which there will also be a Floral Offering and where there will be chocolate with buns for all the participants.

After the blessing of the carts the pilgrimage will begin, whose next one will be located in La Aparecida.

Once in this deputation, the pilgrims can taste wine and sausages from the land, a provision necessary to continue with the route to the Hermitage of Roche.

Here, there will be a giant paella waiting for the pilgrims, who after tasting it will continue their way to Los Camachos.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., the pilgrims will reach Los Camachos, a place where they can quench the heat of the afternoon with the tasting of slushies.

From here you will depart to the San Ginés Strait, the last stop before completing the marked itinerary and arrive at the camp to enjoy the festive night.

As the Brother Romero Mayor, Andrés García, pointed out, it is a night open to everyone, whose only requirement is "to be at 9:00 p.m. to receive the Saint at the gates of the Monastery, eager to have a good time and celebrate this marked day ".

ACTIVITIES IN THE CAMP

It is expected that the carts carried by the pilgrims arrive at the base camp around 9:30 p.m.

Once here, the pilgrims, as well as all those who want to celebrate the day of the San Ginés Patron, will be able to enjoy the dance performances of Mari Carmen Baños and the Big Concert of the PIKU Group.

Infantile inflatables and cotton candy will be installed for the little ones.

The camp will have a food bar, churros, mojitos and slushies, all at popular prices.

In addition, during the night of August 25 an Artisan market will be installed.
