Cs denounces the lack of maintenance of public drinking water sources in Cartagena and asks to increase its number (09/08/2018)

- "We are asking since 2015 that the local administration take charge of the need to renew or repair public sources of drinking water throughout the municipality, with special attention to those that are located in parks, children's and sports areas, or gardens, but our proposals in the Plenary fall on deaf ears ", lamented the mayor of Ciudadanos, Ana Rama

Cities with half the population of Cartagena, such as Jaén (109), or Cádiz (100), almost double the number of public drinking water sources in the municipality, only 60, and of these, 22 are out of service, Other cities with a similar population, such as Granada, have reached 206 operations, the orange orange training reported today.

"We are asking since 2015 that the local administration take charge of the need to renew or repair public sources of drinking water throughout the municipality, with special attention to those that are located in parks, children's and sports areas, or gardens , but our proposals in the House fall on deaf ears, "lamented the mayor of Citizens, Ana Rama, who says that" that will not discourage us to continue denouncing that a population of more than 217,000 inhabitants can not have their spaces public only 42 public sources, which are also neglected and abandoned. "

Ana Rama has indicated that she is worried about municipal laziness to make Cartagena a more livable and pleasant city, "we sadly attended to the abandonment of our parks, gardens, and playgrounds, to the imperative need to repaint pedestrian crossings, to the lack of facilities to increase the shadow areas in the streets, we coexisted with the dirt in our streets, the abandoned lots, and from Ciudadanos we are working to make react to this weak Government of the PSOE, more occupied in its own interests, in prepare the ground for the elections of 2019 to work for the daily problems of Cartagena.

Two years of unfulfilled promises

More than two years ago, in July 2016, the PSOE and MC Government assured that they had planned for the summer of 2017 to act on existing sources and increase their number.

After failing to comply with this commitment, in September 2017, the municipal government assured Cs in writing that it was already working on recovering sources and that a plan was to be adopted to analyze all the sources and evaluate which ones should be withdrawn. , which ones to maintain and where to install the new dispensers to guarantee an efficient management of water resources.

One year after this announcement, Ciudadanos still has no record that nothing has been done in this regard, and therefore will take to the next ordinary plenary session a new battery of questions to know why the government team has again failed to comply with its word and has not increased the number of public sources.

The orange training will also be interested to know if the analysis of all the sources has been carried out, and if it has already prepared a maintenance program for the renewal of these elements, as it was committed two years ago.

Rama says he has seen firsthand that many spaces in the city do not have these dispensers, or those that are installed do not work, or are in a deplorable state of preservation, "we have been warning him since we entered the City Hall so that before suffer the hottest months, the City Council will carry out a plan of shock for its update, two summers later still without moving a finger ".

On the other hand, Ana Rama proposes that the new sources that are installed, if it is done in this legislature, are "adapted for people with reduced mobility as they do in other municipalities."
