The Roman Theater of Cartagena extends its opening days in August and organizes guided tours (09/08/2018)

The Museum of the Roman Theater of Cartagena, whose patronage is integrated by the Autonomous Community, the City of Cartagena and the Cajamurcia Foundation, extends its opening days during the month of August, in addition, will host different guided tours that will show the public the wealth of this monument and its history.

The museum, which usually closes on Mondays, will remain open on August 13 and 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., so that the two central weeks of August can be visited every day.

The public will have the opportunity to access the temporary exhibition that commemorates the tenth anniversary of the opening of the museum, showing the visitor what the discovery of the Roman Theater meant almost 30 years ago, as well as its integral recovery, a long and complex process but also exciting.

In addition, the visitor can tour the permanent rooms, there being the possibility to make guided tours with prior reservation.

The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Juan Antonio Lorca, recalled that "in these ten years, the monumental set of the Roman Theater of Cartagena has become the most visited museum in the Region of Murcia and is also, undoubtedly, an important reference cultural and tourist, both for the high number of visitors it receives and for the national and international recognition that its restoration has deserved, as is the case of the Europa Nostra Award. "

Since it was inaugurated more than 1.6 million people have passed through the Roman Theater Museum of Cartagena, half of them came from other countries.

"The Roman Theater is a great attraction for the many tourists who choose our Region during the summer, and for that reason it has been decided to extend its opening hours and opening days, so that all those who wish may know this emblematic construction", explained the person in charge of Cultural Assets, who also recalled that "to approach the Roman Theater in a different way, visitors can also choose one of the guided routes that run, in addition to this monument, part of the city of Cartagena and that are specially designed for the family audience ".
