The National FP Center of Cartagena has quadrupled the number of courses in three years (08/08/2018)

The director of the SEF, Severa González, closes a course that has offered more than 600 hours of training in the field of polymers

The National Reference Center for Vocational Training in the Chemistry Family of Cartagena, under the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF), went from organizing eight courses in 2014 to holding 30 courses in 2017, in which 259 were trained. students for 15,490 teaching hours.

The director general of the SEF, Severa González, stressed that "since 2014 we have multiplied the number of courses by almost four, which means that the students observe this training offer with increasing interest.They are very practical courses, completely adapted to the requirements of the company, and in fact the figure of later labor insertion of those trained is very high ".

González closed today one of the courses of this exercise, the 'Organization and control of the transformations of thermoplastic polymers', and delivered the diplomas to the participating students, after 660 hours of training.

Since its creation (1982) and until 2017, it has trained 15,490 students, in a total of 1,222 courses.

Also, the number of teaching hours taught during that period exceeds 332,000.

The director of the SEF assessed as "very positive" the historical data of the center and highlighted the upward trend since 2014.

This center is the benchmark of the country for the vocational training system in the family of chemistry, both for educational centers and for training for employment.

Thus, its teaching work adds innovation, research and experimentation works specialized in chemistry, which allow to meet the emerging needs of the sector.

The professional areas in which it offers training are: chemical analysis and control;

Chemical process;

pharmachemistry;

pulp, paper and cardboard;

and polymer transformation.

Some of these courses, whose access is a priority for the unemployed, are those of 'Basic operations in chemical plant', 'Chemical analysis', 'Microbiological and biotechnological tests' or 'Chemical plant management and control'.

In addition, certain courses from other professional families are also offered, such as Mechanical Manufacturing (welding courses), Computer Science and Communications (computer security courses, micro-computer systems and web design), or Safety and Environment ( course of operation of water treatment stations).

Non-labor practices

The center has agreements with companies and institutions for the realization of non-work practices by students who complete certain training actions, such as 'Basic operations in chemical plant' or 'Chemical analysis'.

In this period, the biggest receiver of students of the center for the realization of practices is the Sabic company, with 171;

followed by the Murcian Institute for Agricultural Research and Development and Food (Imida), with 60 students;

Repsol Petróleo, with 38, and the National Technological Center for Food and Preservation, with 37.

Next course: Technical English applied to chemistry

Currently, the Center keeps open the term for a new course, specifically the one of 'technical English for chemical industry', that will start on September 24 and will continue until November 20 with a duration of 200 hours for 15 students.

Applications for these courses can be collected at the center's information office, in the Network of Employment Offices of the Region of Murcia or through sefcarm.es/crnfp.
