The Museum of the Roman Theater of Cartagena expands its hours and activities during the month of August (30/07/2018)

The Roman Theater expands its opening days in the month of August, Mondays 13 and 20 will remain open, so that the two central weeks of the month of August will open every day.

In addition, during this month you can also visit several temporary exhibitions, routes and themed visits.

The tour of this monumental group begins with the Museum, whose entrance is located in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, in front of the Consistorial Palace, and involves a journey back in time through its exhibition rooms that culminates with the unexpected appearance of the Teatro's imposing grandstand Roman.

You can also visit the temporary exhibition that commemorates the 10th Anniversary of the Roman Theater Museum, the exhibition brings to the visitor what meant the discovery of the Roman Theater in one of the most depressed neighborhoods of the city, almost thirty years ago.

As well as the integral recovery, a long, complex, but exciting process, and the ten years since its inauguration on July 11, 2008.

The exhibition is divided into four thematic blocks that collect through photographs, from the Museum's photographic archive and photographers such as Díaz Burgos or José Albadalejo, texts in Spanish and English, and varied graphic documentation, how was the process of recovery of the monument .

The exhibition starts from the evolution of the archaeological works, following the parameters of the restoration and the execution of the integral project, work of the brilliant architect Rafael Moneo, as well as the evolution of the Museum after its inauguration.

In these ten years, the monumental complex has become an important cultural and tourist reference, both for its number of visitors and for the various awards it has received nationally and internationally, the most outstanding being the Europa Nostra Grand Prix, the category of restoration.

Since its inauguration, more than 1,630,000 people have passed.

In the global average of these years 70% do it individually and / or family, and 30% in group, as for the origin of the visitors, 48% are national visitors and 52% are foreigners.

The Roman Theater expands its opening days in the month of August, Mondays 13 and 20 will remain open from 10.00 to 20.00 hours, so that the two central weeks of the month of August will open every day from 10.00 at 20.00 hours and on Sunday 19 will be from 10.00 to 17.00 hours.

Also, the activity is implemented in August with a good number of routes and themed visits in collaboration with Cartagena Port of Cultures, so in the month of August every day you can make a route or a family activity.

EVERY DAY A HISTORY

On Tuesdays and Sundays "Virtual visit to the Roman Theater of Cartagena: New experiences".

A guided tour of the Museum of the Roman Theater of Cartagena with virtual reality that will allow you to immerse yourself, through virtual glasses, in the old building.

You can visualize in 360 degrees the theater as it was in its time, fly over it or see a small pampering of the time.

The tour consists of a visit to the Museum of the Roman Theater and the theater with virtual experience.

It will start at 11:30 am.

On Wednesdays a family activity "Theatrum: an afternoon of theater".

The participants will be able to know the Roman society through the theater, its religion and politics, how the great buildings of spectacles were in the Roman Empire;

the types of works that were represented or the people who acted in them.

The activity and visit to the Roman Theater and Museum of Cartagena, will be at 6.30 pm.

Thursdays "Citizens of an Empire".

A guided tour from the Museo del Teatro Romano, which will continue through the Barrio del Foro Romano, and end at Casa Romana de la Fortuna.

The activity will start at 11:00 am from the Roman Theater Museum.

On Fridays the activities will continue with the guided route "Bread and circus: gladiators, hot springs and theaters".

The route begins at the Punic Wall with a visit to the Gladiators exhibition to then visit the thermal baths and the theater with a great show building of antiquity.

It will leave at 11:30 am from the Punic Wall, forum neighborhood and Roman theater.

The nocturnal visit to the Roman Theater during the month of August is scheduled on Saturdays, at 9:00 p.m.

In the guided tour "The theater under the light of the Moon", the visitor will make a night tour of the most emblematic work promoted by Augusto in the old Carthago Nova.

The trip allows you to experience first-hand, in a relaxed and exclusive environment, a visit that starts at the Roman Theater Museum with a guide, with a small group of people, discovering the keys of Roman civilization, to end in the archaeological jewel of the Roman Theater under the light of the moon.

An intimate visit that will show the theater of Carthago Nova in the light of the moon.

It will be at the Roman Theater Museum, on August 11 and 25.

Also, on Saturday August 18 will take place the theatrical night tour "Aulaeum, below the curtain", the great Roman architect Vitruvio will offer his vision of the theater.

With it you can enjoy a night visit to the most emblematic work promoted by Augusto in the old Carthago Nova.

The end of the trip culminates with the unexpected appearance of the imposing grandstand of the Roman Theater in the light of the moon, there you will meet again with the classical theater of the hand of Plautus.

It will be held at the Museo del Teatro Romano, on Saturday, August 18 at 9:00 p.m.
