UPCT and Frumecar bet to introduce industry 4.0 in the construction sector with drones and automata (25/07/2018)

The multinational FRUMECAR, one of the leading companies in the world of innovation in the concrete sector, is committed to collaboration with the UPCT for the development of R & D projects in the field of digital technologies based on the new paradigms of 4.0 industry

With this objective, Carlos Torregrosa, vice president of Frumecar, and Professor Antonio Guerrero, of the Autonomous Automation and Robotics research group, have promoted a long-term collaboration agreement between the two entities signed today by the rector, Alejandro Díaz.

Within this agreement, there is a specific agreement to develop AI-BOT (software robots equipped with artificial intelligence) for technical support.

The objective of this project is to improve customer service, regardless of the time when the incident occurs or the place in the world where the equipment is located.

The system will work through a chat that will be attended by artificial intelligence algorithms.

Other technological projects that are being studied under the signed framework agreement are the development of unattended plants equipped with intelligence, communications and drones that perform maintenance and activate their procedures at the request of the production automata without human intervention.

As well as cloud communication systems over globally distributed networks to support customers and machinery for the sector endowed with autonomy with autonomous decision making through algorithms based on big data.

"Frumecar wants to be a pioneer in applying the paradigm of industry 4.0 in the construction sector", explained Carlos Torregrosa, vice president of the company and industrial engineer trained in one of the first promotions of the UPCT, as the director of R & D and Automation of the company, Pedro José Ayala, who has also attended the signing ceremony.

Apart from the R & D projects, Frumecar will collaborate in the Master's Degree in Industry 4.0, which is taught at the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers, and will offer internships and scholarships for students that will include the possibility of completing the project. degree in the company.

This agreement strengthens Frumecar's commitment to innovation and strengthens the relationship that Frumecar has maintained with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena for more than 20 years, a period during which successful automation products of the company have been developed.
