Cartagena has a new appointment with the Improvised Oral Poetry at the XV edition of Trovalia (24/07/2018)

The International Festival of Improvised Oral Poetry Trovalia returns during the month of August to populate the streets of Cartagena with troubadours, repentistas, musicians and poets.

In this XV anniversary of the Festival the invited countries are Cuba, Puerto Rico, Panama and Colombia, coming from Latin America and that will count with the Canary Islands as national guest.

The presentation was made by the mayor of Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba, who has appeared together with the president of the Trovera Association José María Marín, Juan José García and the local reporter, José Sánchez Conesa.

On this occasion, Trovalia will be held from 2 to 4 August starting at 22:00 hours, three days that will be held in three different scenarios but with a common denominator: its proximity to the sea.

Thus, on Thursday, August 2, the Plaza del Ayuntamiento will witness the inauguration of the fifteenth edition of this already ingrained Festival of Improvised Oral Poetry.

In addition, during the development of this day will pay tribute to the figure of Juan Manuel Ronda, in an act in which he will be named honorary partner of the Trovera Association José María Marín "one of the creators of Trovalia and since the beginning has supported and spread the value of the culture of trovos, "said the president of this association, Juan José García Parra.

The second day, Friday, August 3, can be enjoyed at the Mar de Cristal Sea Promenade and the third appointment with improvised oral poetry will take place on Isla Plana.

The councilman of Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba, has emphasized the importance of a festival like this one, so settled already in Cartagena and that supposes "the most important point of intersection between the diverse forms to express the Castilian language from the improvised poetry".

Similarly, Torralba noted that this time, the twenty participants who have been invited to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Festival come from Spanish-speaking countries such as Cuba, Puerto Rico, Panama or Colombia and from the Canary Islands will visit Cartagena two verseadores, a lutenist and a repentista.

In addition, Trovalia will have the participation of the Trovero Mesa Café de La Unión Group.

As the local chronicler, José Sánchez, has shown, the trovo was declared in the year 1,990 Asset of Cultural Interest and later it was also recognized as an intangible cultural interest, "for that reason the improvisation, the trovo, must be a salvagured and dignified tradition. "

Sanchez also added that "Trovalia is the best international showcase that also favors the brotherhood and coexistence between different peoples."
