The Magdalena offers different experiences in its Patron Saint Festivities (19/07/2018)

Rising on the earth between 10 and 20 meters, clairvoyance, remote perception, contemporary dance suspended in the air, artistic photographs, trova or sculptures from the past of Knights Templar and sword fights are some of the experiences that can be experienced in the Patron Saint Festival of the Cartagena hamlet of La Magdalena, which will be held from Friday, July 20 and until Sunday, July 22.

The Patron Saint Festivities are an option for the next summer nights in a rural setting very close to Cartagena: La Magdalena, the heart of the Cartagena dry land, which gives its name to the historic deputation of the western area of ​​the municipality.

The Magdalena has an old hermitage with origins possibly attributable to the Discalced Carmelites, in whose environment will be developed original socio-cultural events and activities, organized by the Neighborhood Association, the Municipal Neighborhood Board of Molinos Martagones and the City Council's Town Hall Celebrations. The program combines festive and cultural activities, and includes from a photographic exhibition in the social locale of faces and hands of inhabitants of the population in homage to the elderly, made by photographers of the Cartagena Photographic Association CliK!

The show will be accompanied by verses made by the trovera Ana Aznar, which describe the life of the protagonists.

You can also see inside the chapel an exhibition of sculptures of Knights Templar and Mary Magdalene, the artist Rafael Hernandez.

Another activity is the celebration of a night procession, with courtship in honor of Mary Magdalene.

More experiences will be offered by the wizard Matute Xen and the acrobat Natividad Guerrero, who will surprise the inhabitants and visitors with their magic and aerial dances.

For their part, the knights and ladies of the 'School of Fencing: The Three Arms', based at the Casino de Cartagena, will fight in sword fights, as they did in the past.

Riders of the 'La Cruzada' Riding School will also surprise with their participation and will bring the audience back to an imaginary past.

All in honor of Mary Magdalene and the patron of Cartagena, who will go with the Brotherhood of Romeros de San Ginés de La Jara, who will participate in these events.

The music band Nuestra Señora de La Soledad, Molinos Marfagones and the bagpipes band Celticue, will put the music atmosphere throughout the event.
