The Museum of the Roman Theater implements mobility in the museum for the blind (09/07/2018)

The Roman Theater Museum of Cartagena has incorporated a new system to guide blind people in their journey.

The system has been designed by a company in the Region of Murcia, Neosistec.

The implementation of more than 50 markers allows people with visual impairment to move completely independently in unknown spaces, without the need to be accompanied.

Using the "artificial vision", through a series of visual markers, in the form of simple posters installed in the Museum's route that are perceived by an installable app in the mobile, warning them of possible obstacles or distance towards their objective, as well as offering information on each room and outstanding pieces of the Museo Teatro Romano Cartagena.

Thus, the Museum takes an important leap in universal accessibility, the NaviLens system is completely free and you can download the Mobile App in the App Store and Google Play, providing a resource such as audioguide specially designed for blind people or those who have diminished the sense of sight.

Throughout the visit, the audio guide will guide your journey from the Town Hall Square to the interior of the Museum, after passing the doors of the Museum, you will meet the History Corridor.

It explains the urban evolution of the theater site from the 21st century to the 1st century BC

The corridor leads directly into a large room seven meters high, Room 1, which serves as an extraordinary framework for the exhibition of the elements that make up the monumental architecture of the theater of Cartagena, where the blind can also play the model of the theater.

Through an escalator, or the elevator you reach the second room (Hall2), the largest in the museum.

This room allows the visitor to get to know the functions of the Theater in Antiquity, because in addition to its playful function the theatrical building constituted the perfect architectural framework for the political and religious propaganda of the emperor.

Room 2 connects with the corridor under the church of Santa María la Vieja, where a Roman dwelling with mosaic amortized by the construction of the theater is preserved, as well as the terraced walls of the early 13th century church and other medieval remains, in this runner the sea breeze warns that soon you will reach the end of the route, the Roman Theater.
