The Summer School offers excursions and workshops for the homeless and pedestrians (09/07/2018)

A score of homeless or passersby participate since Monday, July 9, in the Summer School organized by the City of Cartagena, through its Department of Social Services.

With this school you will have the opportunity to go to the Arqua Museum, get on the Tourist Bus or carry out different workshops.

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, attended the inauguration ceremony in which the Rociero Alba Choir has performed and representatives of all the agents involved with these people, as well as staff from the Department of Social Services, attended. who was José Antonio Martínez, responsible for the service of Attention to the Homeless and Passers-by.

This school celebrates its third edition and according to the councilor "it is a firm commitment of our Government" to respond to the needs of the homeless and bystanders.

"It's a very nice initiative with which we respond to those who need it the most".

The activity of this Summer School is part of what is called Social Itineraries.

These itineraries work with people who do not have a home, whose purpose is to provide training, help them obtain a health card or get a decent accommodation, either by getting them a social housing or by looking for accommodation in one of the NGOs in the city.

For this work, the Department of Social Services has the cooperation of entities such as: The Hospitality Santa Teresa, Cartagena Red Cross, Caritas Cartagena, Accem and La Huertecica.

The person in charge of the service of Attention to the Homeless and Passers-by, José Antonio Martínez, explained that they work throughout the year with these people, as part of this work they offer these people the Summer School.

"This activity is the culmination of the Social Itinerary that we have developed with them.

With this school you will have the opportunity to go, for example, to the Museum of Arqua, get on the Tourist Bus or make different sizes, "concluded Martinez.

The program of activities will be carried out in the training classrooms that the Department of Social Services has in the building of La Milagrosa, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and will do so until Friday, July 13.
