A video of the bookstore Athenas and El Bando on the visit of Queen Isabel II, documents of the month of the Municipal Archive (18/06/2018)

A video about the Athenas Bookstore of the year 1996 and the side that was published in the municipality on the occasion of the visit of the Queen of Spain, Isabel II on October 23, 1862 have been chosen documents of the month of June by the Municipal Archive of Cartagena

The video of the month features the Athenas Bookstore, a mythical place for the dissemination of culture and literature in Cartagena that closed its doors a few years ago.

The graphic document is part of the legacy of the file that TeleCartagena transferred to the City of Cartagena, one year ago and after reaching an agreement with the Consistory.

The file that the local television gave to the City Council is composed of some 8,000 tapes in the formats UMATIC, BETACAM, DVCAM and VHS in which are images that are part of the recent history Cartagena since 1987, when TeleCartagena began its journey .

Currently, from the Consistory is working to digitize all these graphic documents, thus avoiding that this important part of the municipality is lost.

On the other hand, the document chosen for this month of June has been the Municipal Bando that the correjidor mayor of Cartagena, Antonio García Mouriño, issued on October 23, 1862 on the occasion of the visit of the Queen of Spain, Isabel II to the municipality .

In this document the itinerary of the visit to Cartagena of the country's councilor is collected and made public.

In addition, in this document two of the images that illustrate it are very significant, as Luis Miguel Pérez, official chronicler of the municipality, affirms, "the first two images that were made of Cartagena are considered and that is where its importance lies."

In the snapshots you can see the port of Cartagena with the entrance of the ship in which Queen Elizabeth II was traveling and were taken by Cliford, the official photographer of the queen.
