Citizens will request explanations from the local government for the project to complete the Los Belones soccer field (13/06/2018)

- The orange formation claims the "Observatory of Sports and Physical Activity in Cartagena", a plenary agreement that was held more than a year ago and whose objectives should be to analyze the sporting reality of Cartagena from a multidisciplinary perspective, analyze the possibilities for applying municipal policies in this field, and coordinate programs related to sports activity

The spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, has visited the sports facilities of Los Belones Club de Fútbol and has met with his president Juan Exposito and part of his board to address the claim of this club that the field is completed .

It is about completing a project that began in 2015 by the City Council with the construction of a football field 8 with artificial turf, with the commitment to convert it into one of 11 when the municipal coffers allowed.

Through the participatory budgets, the board of directors has informed the orange spokesperson that a project was presented in November 2017 to complete the field that did not succeed.

The Club's board does not understand why the City Council decided that its project was not viable because it exceeded the 75,000 euro limit of participatory budgets.

According to Expósito, nobody came to the facilities to analyze and assess a proposal that they valued at around 60,000 euros.

The colophon of this chain of nonsense, informs the directive, was to see that within the accepted and viable proposals was the creation of a dog park in the middle of the ground soccer field with a budget of 60,000 thousand euros.

The president of the club regrets that many children over 14 years, who can not afford the displacement to another club, leave the competition for not having at their disposal a football field 11 in the area.

They also claim that there is a large social mass in Los Belones and bordering towns that is claiming the project, and that from Llano del Beal to La Manga there is no such field and that prevents them from participating in the federated league and limited only to the local, for children under 13 years of age.

For the spokesman of Citizens, Manuel Padín, the commitment to the sport of this Government has to be demonstrated in these cases, "at least, the City has to guarantee these people, who are investing their time and money to promote the practice of sport, that the City Council has the firm commitment to complete the field ".

Padín notes that "what is incomprehensible is to be told yes a few years ago, but then approve installing a dog park there through the latest participatory budgets as has happened, with that the Government only manages to disturb the club and also frustrate the neighbors who proposed the other project, worse can not be done. "

The Group of Citizens has informed that it will contact the person in charge of the Sports area, Obdulia Gómez, "to clarify the situation and to put certainty where now there are only doubts".

Observatory of Sport

The spokesman of the orange training, Manuel Padín, wanted to remember that his Municipal Group presented in April 2017 a proposal for the implementation of an "Observatory of Sport and Physical Activity in Cartagena" whose objectives should be to analyze the sporting reality of Cartagena from a multidisciplinary perspective, analyze the possibilities to apply municipal policies in this field, coordinate programs related to sports activity and facilitate the exchange of information among other sports observatories in Spain.

The motion, which was approved unanimously, included the possibility of reaching collaboration agreements with universities and sports entities.

More than a year later, and despite the demands of the orange training, the Government of Cartagena continues to fail in its obligation, "we know nothing of this agreement that is essential to control the state of our sports facilities in a more centralized manner and that will undoubtedly contribute to improving citizen participation in Cartagena.
