Marina Garcés proposes in'Cartagena Piensa' to recover the critical spirit of illustration (04/06/2018)

The philosopher Marina Garcés presents her book 'New radical illustration', within the program 'Cartagena Piensa', organized by the Department of Culture.

The presentation will take place on Tuesday, June 5, at the Josefina Soria Library of the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center at 8:00 p.m., with free admission until full capacity is reached.

Marina Garcés proposes recovering the critical spirit of the Enlightenment. In his words, "raising your head and declaring ourselves insubordinate to dogmas and forms of oppression is a singular and radically common task, because it involves and concerns us all."

According to the philosopher, "recovering the spirit of enlightenment is recovering its critical attitude, not its eighteenth-century modernizing projector in whose ruins we live." My concern is that we do not fall into the anthropological renunciation of this critical attitude. between incredulity and trust, it is about being able to declare ourselves incredulous and unruffled in the face of the dogmas of our time without losing the confidence that it is in our hands to do and remake the forms of life that we want in this world. "

The book 'New radical illustration', by Marina Garcés will be presented at the Josefina Soria Library of the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center at 8:00 pm, on Tuesday, June 5.

The presentation will be made by the Dean and Professor of Philosophy of the UMU, Antonio Campillo.
