Citizens celebrates the municipal consensus in the working table of the AVE to Cartagena and asks that it not be "electoralized" (01/06/2018)

- "We are talking about strategic infrastructures that will mark the future of our city and future generations and to design them we have to take into account many social, economic, and technical variables, and for a decision of that importance we need to reach a great municipal consensus to through constructive dialogue and avoid hasty and unilateral impositions, "said Orange spokesman Manuel Padín

After the meeting of the working table to discuss the arrival of the AVE to Cartagena to which the spokespersons of the different municipal groups, technicians and local and business representatives have gone, the municipal spokesman for Citizens, Manuel Padín, has assured that he feels "very satisfied by the consensus reached, this is precisely what we have been demanding for a year, that we all sit down at the same table to reach an agreement and therefore establish a common front and a clear roadmap for the arrival of the High Speed to Cartagena ".

Regarding the solution proposed by the neighbors, Manuel Padín explained that "in principle and with all the prudence that marks the fact of not yet having a technical report on its viability, we find it interesting and positive, it avoids a good part of the risks that we face such as the strangulation of population centers, the urban division of the nineteenth century, the dangerousness of the goods that pass through Alumbres, and in favor has to power the future Logistics Activities Zone of Los Camachos and facilitates natural urban expansion Township".

"The municipal technicians have committed to make a draft with the proposal raised by the neighbors so that it can be taken to the Plenary on June 7, previously we will have access to that draft and we can definitely fix our position, in any case, all seems to indicate that the decision to refer this study prior to Adif will have an overwhelming support from the Plenary, "said the spokesman for Citizens.

Asked if this report will delay the arrival of the AVE, Manuel Padín has been clear, "after 17 years of delays, with current national political instability, it would be ridiculous if someone thought that drafting a new proposal could slow down the process."

Manuel Padín believes that "we are talking about strategic infrastructures that will mark the future of our city and future generations and to design them we have to take into account many social, economic, and technical variables, and for a decision of that draft we need to achieve a great consensus through constructive dialogue and avoid hasty and unilateral impositions ".

The spokesman for Citizens regretted the lost time, "what has happened today has been requested by our Group since October 2017, that time gives us the reason, or even the spokespersons of other parties, does not comfort us too much, but of all In this way, we are glad of the success of this meeting and we hope that this tune will be maintained over time and no one tries to politicize and electoralize their movements, a disservice to Cartagena. "

On the other hand, and as it has been requested by Citizens in recent months, the president of the COEC has suggested that this work table be maintained and become a permanent space where the information that can be generated can be analyzed and collated. the whole process, "from our Group we have already formally requested the creation of a Monitoring Committee of the same characteristics, and it may well be a working table".
