Last steps to approve the first Municipal Plan against Gender Violence in Cartagena (31/05/2018)

The Local Table against Gender Violence, chaired by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, this morning has given its approval to the first Municipal Plan Against Gender Violence, which will come into force after the approval of the Governing Board.

"It is a very ambitious plan with which we try to respond to this serious problem whose eradication is one of our top priorities, despite the fact that we have few competences in this matter," said the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.

This plan contemplates three fundamental aspects;

Prevention, training and awareness;

Comprehensive care and intervention for women victims of gender violence;

and Municipal coordination and institutional interest.

Castejón has thanked the team of the Department of Equality for the magnificent work they have developed during the year that has gone through the development and processing of this ambitious document.

It has sought the maximum consensus in its development, so after its drafting by the technicians of the Department of Equality, returned to the local table of Coordination and Prevention of Gender Violence.

Then I pass to the Equality Council, where a period of modifications and improvements was opened.

After this process, the document was improved and today it has been presented again in the Local Table against Gender Violence.

Once the plan is launched, a Follow-up Commission will be created, which will transfer its studies and conclusions to the Equality Council.

This new plan will be in effect from 2018 to 2022.
