The UPCT launches a master's degree in Industry 4.0 to train in the technologies that revolutionize the sector (30/05/2018)

Professors of the Industrial School and professionals of the IDEA group will impart knowledge in big data, cybersecurity, autonomous robotics, additive manufacturing, augmented reality and the remaining technologies of digital transformation

The Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering of the UPCT has launched, in collaboration with the business group IDEA Engineering, a Master in Industry 4.0 that will be able to take this next course 2018-2019 with the aim of providing university graduates, managers and professionals a solid formation of practical character and applied in all the tools demanded by the current technological revolution.

This title of the UPCT has been presented today by the rector, Alejandro Díaz;

the director of the School of Industrialists, Patricio Franco, and the director of the Institute of Development, Joaquín Gómez.

"The master will have a very practical approach and will teach how to use the tools that professionals from different sectors need to adapt to the digital transformation that will mark the coming years, and that our graduates must know in order to successfully access this important field of labor market ", highlights Antonio Guerrero, director of the Master in Industry 4.0 and deputy director of Planning and Academic Organization of the School of Industry.

Teaching staff of the Polytechnic of Cartagena, fundamentally of the School of Industrialists, but also of Telecommunications and of Sciences of the Company of the UPCT and of the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Murcia, together with professionals of the IDEA group, in a proportion of 50% of teachers and 50% of external experts will transmit their experience in digital transformation to those enrolled in the master's degree.

"From IDEA Engineering we support the School of Industrialists of the UPCT to organize this master because we want to contribute with our experience to further increase its potential by training the professionals needed by the companies of our country for the digital transformation they must undertake in order to remain competitive in the current market ", explains the CEO of IDEA Engineering, Emilio Sánchez.

"I am an industrial engineer from the UPCT and from the companies I direct we have been applying industry 4.0 technologies in various sectors of the industry for many years, and through this master I would like to help Cartagena and the Region of Murcia become a benchmark in the field of digital transformation, "he says.

"This master will allow training in all the tools that are included in the field of industry 4.0, such as autonomous robotics, augmented reality, process simulation, additive manufacturing, big data, cloud computing, cybersecurity, vertical and horizontal integration, internet things and business model in industry 4.0, "explains Patricio Franco, director of the School of Industrial UPCT.

"All these technologies related to digital transformation are already being introduced in many of the most important companies in our country, and should also be incorporated in the remaining companies as the only solution to ensure their competitiveness in the global market as a result of the current technological revolution, "he adds.

"Mastering the tools of Industry 4.0 is of vital importance for improving the competitiveness and even the survival of companies in our environment, and therefore learning the tools required to be a specialist in these technologies is an ideal complement for the graduates of the field of industrial engineering, and other engineering such as telecommunication, computer science and other technical degrees ", comments Pedro Moreno, member of IDEA Engineering.

"We consider that this master's degree will be very attractive because it will be possible to study indifferently in face-to-face, blended or non-face-to-face mode, it will have a very reduced price, and the classes will take place on Thursdays and Fridays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The attendance will not be obligatory and the sessions will be broadcast in streaming and will be posted in the virtual classroom so that they are available for students from anywhere in the world, "he concludes.
