Friends of the Archaeological Museum of Cartagena present the piece of the quarter (18/05/2018)

The Association of Friends of the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Cartagena (MVSAEDOMVS) presented, on Thursday, May 17, at the facilities of the Archaeological Museum Enrique Escudero de Castro, the piece of the quarter: 'Commemorative section of arcs and filters of a possible aqueduct'.

This activity was framed within the program for the celebration of the International Day of Museums.

The event, attended by the mayor of Culture, Education and Youth, David Martínez Noguera with the coordinator of Heritage, Mª Carmen Berrocal Caparrós;

the president of MUSEADOMUS, M º Teresa Sánchez Sánchez and the head of Museums, Miguel Martín Camino, continued with the conference 'Problems around the water supply in Carthago Nova', by the professor of Archeology at the University of Murcia, Sebastián Ramallo Asensio.

The piece presented on this occasion, is about two contiguous fragments of a block of gray limestone, dimensions 39 x 130 x 43 cm, inscribed on both sides, which was embedded in the house of the Four Saints in the sixteenth century .

The complete epigraph would be made up of several blocks in which the inscription was developed.

The breaking of the lateral ends affects the beginning and end of the text.

The epigraph commemorates the construction of a temple (aedem), and with it a series of structures of a hydraulic nature made by a character from which only the final four letters of his cognomen are preserved, but who held the position of quaestor pro praetor.

The activities for the commemoration of the International Day of the Museums, organized by the Association of Friends of the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Cartagena began on Wednesday, May 16, with the 'Recital of duos of cello and piano', which was interpreted by Sergio Arqués and Alberto Arqués, both students of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena.

At the piano was Antonia Cerdán, professor at the same music conservatory.
