Open the registration period for the formative and cultural summer offer of the Popular University (17/05/2018)

The Popular University of the City of Cartagena has organized the programming of a cultural-training offer that will run from June 4 to 28 at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center, whose registration period opens on May 17 at 12 noon in the Popular University website.

The presentation of these training actions has been carried out by the mayor of the area of ​​Education, Culture and Youth, David Martínez Noguera;

who has been accompanied by the director of the Popular University, José Macián.

The mayor has indicated that the Popular University finalizes the programming of this course 2017/2018 with a new offer linked to the summer, which "aims to respond to the training and cultural concerns of citizens."

The councilor has indicated that this year there will be two very innovative courses on paper cyanotype and cyanotype on ceramics, which are made with a photographic printing procedure to create images or compositions from the negative, by combining forms and materials.

He also highlighted that Meninas Pop made of cardboard will be another of the courses in which attendees can develop their creativity by enhancing a carving exercise, which will be covered with papier-mâché to produce a personalized menu.

In the Metal Jewelery workshop, students will learn to work copper, going through the entire process to carry out their own project, which they can later take home.

On the other hand, the union of traditional meditative techniques and neuroscience offer Slow-Lab: Flower painting and meditation workshop, where attendees will use oriental painting as a meditation tool.

The craft traditions will be present with the Introduction to braiding of esparto and with Upcycling: Sustainable Fashion, in which they will be composed of unused garments, new ones minimizing the impact of waste.

On the other hand, contemporary Spanish poetry will be present in a course in which the poetic currents of the recent history of Spain will be covered: its characteristics, political, social and cultural causes and the influence of this literary genre in other creative disciplines.

Those interested can also practice English while learning to take better pictures in the course Photography in English, and finally, a free guided tour to the Victoria Cave, an area of ​​special geological, paleontological and mining interest.

This visit can be done in two shifts, a first at 10 am and others at 11 am due to the generated expectation.

David Martinez has indicated that the price of courses ranges between 10 and 40 euros and the duration between 6 and 16 hours the longest course, and that the places are limited, so he has recommended to those interested to register as soon as they have the opportunity.

In addition, he said that for the third consecutive year, the Popular University will take the cinema to twelve neighborhoods and councils of Cartagena with the program Un verano de Cine.

From July 5 to August 25, from Thursday to Saturday at 10 pm, "Piratas del Caribe: Salazar's Revenge" and "La Liga de la Justicia" will be screened, "two fun adventure films for the whole family, that will make a very pleasant evening for the attendees ", he added.

For his part, José Macián highlighted the novelty and uniqueness of these workshops, "taught by excellent professionals" that aim to develop the creative potential of the attendees.
