ADIF and the Barenboim-Said Foundation leading to Cartagena Railway Station classical music (06/05/2010)

The performance will be provided by a brass quintet formed by members of the Academy of Orchestral Studies Barenboim-Said

Adif reaffirms its commitment to social and cultural initiatives with the aim of improving the stations as meeting places open to society

Barenboim-Said Foundation, in collaboration with ADIF, offered on Friday, May 7 at 18.00 a concert in the lobby of the train station in Cartagena.

This initiative forms part of a cooperation agreement in 2006 between ADIF and the institution.

The objective of this agreement is to encourage Spanish society training activities and awareness in the field of coexistence, dialogue and culture.

The concert will be in charge of the brass quintet composed by Antonio José Vera Rubén Escribano and Lorenzo Garcia (trumpet), Miguel Ángel-Pérez Aínsua (horn), Alberto León Prats (trombone) and Alberto Pérez Jurado (tuba), all of them members of Orchestral Studies Academy of the Barenboim-Said Foundation.

The program, which covers a broad spectrum of classical music, includes the following musical pieces: Fanfare of the Ballet "La Peri" (Paul Dukas), opera Triumphal March from Aida (Giuseppe Verdi), Three Episodes for Brass Quintet (Alan Harniess), Sea Sketches (Ian McDonald), Sonata Die Bänkelsängerlieder (Anonymous VXII s.), Concerto for Quintet No. 3 (Victor Ewald) and Swiss Dances for Brass Quintet (Anonymous).

The Academy is a project of the Barenboim-Said Foundation through which young people aspire to become orchestral musicians take lessons and advice from the professors of the Berlin Staatskapelle, an orchestra led by Daniel Barenboim.
